Welcome everybody. How you got here I have no idea but thank you for coming and welcome again, nonetheless . As you may have gathered this is a Fic Prompting Meme dedicated solely to the hilarious and oh-so-addictive BBC Radio 4 sitcom - Cabin Pressure. I'm aiming for this to be pretty anything goes - but in order for everything to run smoothly, there are a few guidelines. Don't worry - they're not too restrictive.

FILLING GUIDELINES

As you probably all know - our meme now has it's very own database created and maintained by the great Enigel. It both catalogues each and every prompt that we post and provides links to fills. You can find it here: Google Spreadsheet

We also have a Pinboard archive which has been put in place by the lovely oxfordtweed in the place of our late Delicious Archive. This Archive contains a list of all the prompts this meme has to offer - you can find it here: Pinboard Archive

This is a great step forward in making our meme just a little more organised (but not too organised of course. This is Cabin Pressure) which is always a good thing.

So in order to make things easier to archive - Please nest your fills.

This can be done by either posting each part as a reply to that part's immediate predecessor, OR by replying each time to Part I OR - well you get the idea :D

It makes it simpler for Enigel and myself to link fills in a clean and clear manner. Following these guildelines will be very much appreciated guys :D

REPROMPTING

Reprompting is allowed but please include the URL of the original prompt when you do so. It will make it infinitely more easy to Archive which would make both Enigel and I very happy :)

As for everything else

1. Be respectful to one another. Disagreements are fine, but not everything disagreeable is trolling. If you suspect someone of trolling, just ignore it. If you cannot respond to a comment without attacking or trolling someone else, keep it to yourself.


2. No bashing prompts. It might not be your cup of tea - but obviously someone wants it enough to go to the effort of requesting it. So just scroll past it.


3. Prompt away as much as you like guys - seriously, go wild - but please try to fill as well.

NEW - If your fill includes a major element that veers from the original prompt (crossovers, established universes, kinks, et cetera), please take a few moments to check with the OP that such additions are welcome. This has caused problems in the past and it only takes a few moments of your time.

4. Please no RPF. I'm not trying to oppress you RPF writers and enthusiasts, I would just really like to avoid any legal problems.


5. When you post a fill (or post a new part of a WIP) please go over to the Filled Prompts Post (if it is complete) or the WIP Post (if there are still more parts to come) and, following each post's guideline's, post a link to this fill or new part.

REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. So if you're here and you're under 18 please back button now.

+ Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

I am watching Wings on Netflix right now, and wow, are these two cut from the same cloth. So -- crossovers? Please? I don't care what and I don't care if the timelines need to be played with to make it work. Gen or any pairings (within each canon or crossovers) works for me. Just crossover goodness!

I LOVE YOU.

Cabin Pressure has reminded me of Wings SO MUCH since I first started listening to it. I mean, Joe and Martin both take being a pilot so seriously because it's been their dream their whole life and they're hard working and they like rules and order but then there's Brian and Douglas, who do the same job without any of the 'professionalism' that Joe and Martin insist on. Brian and Douglas live to get Joe and Martin's goat. Faye is sort of like Carolyn in that they're both terrifically wise and capable women with many years of flying experience. Roy is pretty much anyone who makes fun of Martin for being a captain or MJN for being an airline airdot. Lowell is sort of like Arthur in that he looks up to Joe the way Arthur looks up to Martin and they both genuinely enjoy what they do.

And both Sandpiper Air and MJN only have ONE PLANE.

On the high days, Martin is exuberant, more willing than ever to press his authority, downs Arthur's monstrosities without any qualms, and almost can't shut up.
On the bad days, he has to drag himself out of bed, doesn't feel like eating or playing any games, and doesn't bother to correct people when they recognise Douglas as the captain.

Which naturally, worries Douglas a lot.

Martin, Douglas, Carolyn, and Arthur are Eternals. This means their souls have always found each other in every lifetime they have lived, though usually only two of them.

Some of their past lives (though up to author to use) are
WW2 Douglas and Martin as doctor and soldier;
1920s America Carolyn and Douglas as waitress and patron;
Victorian orphans Martin and Arthur;
and then whatever else the writer may want (including the four of them together).

Points for doing both tragedy and comedy ones.

Warning: human trafficking

In a very bad area of a very bad town, Martin disappears. He has been taken by human traffickers who think he is a lot younger than he is because of his size. If they figure out their error, they will kill him. Martin is keeping quiet, not to save himself, but in hope of saving the actual kids the traffickers are keeping him penned with.

Douglas and Arthur try to work with the corrupt local authorities as there is no UK embassy in the country, but have to give up and take matters into their own hands.

Soul-eater Martin (tw for possibly disturbing ideas)

I'm not even sure what to warn this with. Soul-eating?

Don't judge me, this prompt has been nagging at my mind. It's really creepy, I suppose.

So: Martin eats souls for a living. When someone dies, their soul escapes their body and then eventually disappears, but it stays around for a few hours, lost. That's when Martin sweeps in. So Martin regularly hangs around the hospital, volunteering and looking after the elderly when he gets "hungry." He refuses to take live men/women's souls.

Someone at MJN (preferably Douglas) notices he takes a lot of trips to the hospital. One day they visit just to see what he does. Martin shows them around, helps some elderly and it bores them out of their mind. When they claim to leave, Martin breathes a sigh of relief and - just his luck - a woman dies a few doors down. He sees her soul floating through the hospital. The hallway is empty. No one is outside - instead focused on the woman. He cups the delicious little morsel in his hands and—

Whoever it is comes back and then they see Martin holding the soul (it appears to the human eye for the brief moment he holds it) and they - what; freak out? Are intrigued? Afraid? Do they accept him? End their friendship? You tell me! Happy ending are loved.

TLDR; Martin eats souls; someone at MJN catches him. Do they accept him? Are they afraid? You decide.

LONG PROMPT IS LONG. And I'm sorry, I don't even know. I don't know how to feel about this; I just needed it out of my system. This is a really, really crazy idea so I left the interpretation pretty loose; if anyone fills it, you may morph it to fit whatever you want. I'd just be happy to see it get filled.

Anyway, the prompt is this: Douglas threatens someone who bullies or harms Martin or Arthur or Carolyn. No graphic threats of violence, racial, homophobic, or sexist insults, or death threats, please. Otherwise, go wild.

Since his mid-teens, any time Martin has made a mistake, he's punished himself. At the start just physically, now sometimes sexually. While the mistakes he makes aren't really getting worse, or more frequent, his punishment of himself has been getting more intense and dangerous, because he needs to do more to get the same mental shut-down state.

Someone (Douglas or Arthur) sees the damage Martin has done to himself and after some confusion over what's happening to Martin, they offer to help him get to that mentally blank state, rather than him continue inflicting dangerous, potentially permanently damaging punishments on himself. Under their care, Martin gains some self-worth.

Carolyn's interesting history

Cheating Martin

Could someone write me some Martin/Douglas where Martin is cheating behind his back?

Not really picky about how you reason it. Maybe Martin just happened to hit it off with someone and he still feels so deprived that the guilt can't deter him from getting more people to give him affection and such. Maybe his and Douglas' relationship isn't as good as he'd hoped it'd be and he now finds a sadistic pleasure in getting one over on the sky god. Maybe he was drinking a bit and hooked up with someone and now doesn't know if he should tell Douglas since it was only a one night stand.

To be perfectly honest I just want Martin cheating in general, so if you'd like to pair him up with someone else, go for it.

The one who takes hours with very sharp knives, carves up his redheaded victims slowly, precisely, with very sharp knives for hours or sometimes days, keeping them alive and in excruciating agony until the very end.

No one on board knows that, though. They only know that he seems to be succeeding in chatting up a thoroughly blushing Captain Martin Creiff.

Inspired by that other end of world prompt:

Everyone knows the date of the apocalypse. Carolyn and Herc have planned a nice evening at home with Arthur, and Douglas wants to get drunk with his mates one last time.

And while Martin DOES have friends and knows Carolyn and Douglas and Arthur care about him, there's nobody close enough to him to want to spend their last day with him. So he decides to spare himself that last day alone knowing that he's noone's dearest and kill himself.

Up to you whether or not someone finds out and saves him.

24 Hours

One of my favourite TV shows at the moment is 24 Hours in A&E. It's a fly-on-the-wall documentary based in the emergency department of King's College Hospital, London. It's beautifully filmed, and manages to be simultaneously funny and moving. If you're in the UK I urge you to check it out on 4OD. There's a quote from one of the staff at the start:

"The moment that you're in resus and you're really sick, and all you can think about is am going to live, am I going to die? Silly things go out the window and ultimately what's important is realised: That you're loved, and that you're not alone."

I'd love to see one of the MJN crew go through a horrible, potentially life threatening day where they land in A&E and have the above revelation. Preferably Douglas, because in my head he needs it more. Gen please!

Martin is collared by Douglas - and he absolutely loves it. He adores being owned by someone, being loved by them. He refuses to take it off, and if he does, he feels incredibly vulnerable and only handles a few minutes. So one day when Douglas wants to take the collar off to clean it, he's surprised when Martin freaks out and nearly bursts into tears, thinking he's going to take his collar off forever. Douglas is shocked to see how attached he is. You could expand it to a previous owner(s), who didn't love him or treated him badly if you want? Now that he has love and a place to fit in, he doesn't want to give it up.

This subsequently becomes awkward when they find themselves developing a Pavlovian arousal in response to Douglas's voice at work, which leads to Douglas finding out the other person found out about his fandom, which leads to Things Happening.

Martin and the Students

Since the errant comment seems to have been deleted along with the thread, I'll make it a proper prompt.

I would like to see more stories with Martin and the students at the share house. There is a brilliant set of OC's by one author for the third generation (which I would love to read more of), but there are two other generations for everyone else to play with too.

Someone on the aeroplane is storm-sexual. Whether this means they get helplessly aroused during storms or only by storms, or only have sex with storms, or generate storms when they are aroused is all up to the filler.

This makes flying difficult.
