Please see the most recent MOD NOTE and ADDENDUM

(updated 5 July)

Good evening ladies and gentlemen (and good day to you too, inhabitants of the other side of the world). As always - this isn't a captain speaking but I come bearing news nonetheless.

It has been brought to my attention today(/night) by our good friend OxfortTweed, that a Chatter Post might work quite well for our fandom.

I'm inclined to agree with him.

As such, here you have a brand-spanking-new post to chatter, Brit-pick, ask questions, debate, gossip, gush and generally indulge in any fannish activity that does not fall under the category of posting or filling prompts. I hope you all enjoy it

The usual guidelines apply, but mostly:

-  Please be respectful to one another.

-  Don't bash other (non)anon's comments/questions/ideas/etc.

-  Have fun

Now go forth, chat amongst yourselves and enjoy. I am of course on stand, so if any problems arise, feel free to drop me a line.

And if you stumble across any plot bunnies here, please just drop them off home at the Prompt-Post, the rest of the herd will be overjoyed to meet them.

Or as they say in Limerick

It's been brought to my attention we are needing
A place for discussion, not reading
I hope this post will do
I'll leave the rest to you
And Beware of the plot bunnies breeding

Sorry if the poem is rubbish - I literally haven't written one since grade five.

REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. So if you're here and you're under 18 please back button now.

Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

Other than that - go crazy guys. Any problems please just message me and I'll try my best to work it out.

MOD ANNOUNCEMENT

It would seem as though a reminder of the rules is in order.

If you see something on the meme that you don't like, scroll past it. This is not the bambi rule, as someone put it, but the being a mature adult rule, as often times the comments that seem to be left in these cases just turn out to be disrespectful or even counter-trolling.

Disagreement is fine. I've left plenty of them up in the past because I didn't feel like there was anything too nasty going on. You can be passionate and believe in something without slinging insults or tearing down. I really don't like having to police you guys on this, but if I have to, I'll put on my grump face and do it.

On that note, constructive criticism is also fine, so long as it is constructive and welcome by the author. Obviously, in most cases, you don't know if it is until the author responds. But if they do comment and give any indication that it is not welcome, then consider the matter dropped. Continuing to 'help' the author will be viewed as harassment.

Destructive criticism has no place here. If all you can say to an author is that their fill is terrible, then I will consider you the troll, because seriously. Just don't.

If you suspect a troll fill or prompt, IGNORE IT. Feeding trolls only leads to more trolling behaviour, as it is exactly what the troll wants. Any response to a troll is encouragement. So just ignore it, and it'll crawl back under its bridge and hopefully go find some other children to devour or something.

And something I cannot even believe I have to say, DO NOT follow a logged-in user back to their journal and harass them there. I obviously cannot ban anon users as the meme stands, and I really do not want to turn on IP logging because ICK, but if this happens again, I will have to very strongly consider it. No-one wants that, so PLEASE do not make me even have to consider it. Nothing kills an anon meme like losing anonymity.

As always, if you've any questions or need any clarification, don't hesitate to ask. I will try to be less of a sour old goat as I continue to wake up and get on with my morning.

Genuine Question:

What happens when ignoring doesn't work? I've seen writers go on writing sprees over in other fandoms, hijacking prompts left, right and centre. Ignoring didn't help, they just carried on and ruined people's prompts. Fillers were put off doing second fills because of backlash from the original filler, and prompters were put off re-prompting.

There comes a point where you can't just passively make a rule and hope everyone will follow it. Chances are, the person who causes these rules to be made don't realise they're the reaosn. At some point, you as the mod have to actually point your finger and tell them to stop, and ban them if you have to. Coming from us will either be ignored, be classed as troll comments or bullying.

At the very least, it protects the com and keeps it active, because worse case scenario if you-know-what continues to happen, most people will leave and the ones remaining will ask "What happened to the good days?"

Report it. My inbox is always open, and there's the page-a-mod post linked on every page. If something happens just once or twice, the best thing to do is ignore it, but if it looks like it's becoming habitual, that's what I'm here for.

Different anon, I just want to say that out of all anon memes I've participated in, this one definitely has the best mod and the highest level or organization. Thank you for all your work ♥

Hard the be precise because I think I must have missed whatever drama prompted this (I assume posts have been deleted), so I'm not sure what's going on, but anyway... Whatever it was, he would smile and say something polite, tactful but quietly to the point.
