Sorry if the poem is rubbish - I literally haven't written one since grade five.

REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

I believe it was delayed because Martin Freeman was unavailable, not BC. But I'm not a 100% sure on that.

Warhorses of Letters

The second series of this beautiful love story between Napoleon and Wellington's horses (as told through the letters they wrote to each other and many, many horse puns) started a couple of days ago. Here's a link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01p0s13

It's probably the most absurd thing on Radio 4 right now. Which is an amazing feat when you consider that the news series of Bleak Expectations is also currently airing.

It's possibly notable to Cabin Pressure fans because in the live tryouts John Finnemore played Copenhagen to Robbie Hudson*'s Marengo. (Stephen Fry and Daniel Rigby star in the radio version.)

*Possibly notable for being co-writer of the this series, being the former *sniff* flatmate to frequent Finnemore collaborator David Mitchell and being the author of The Kilburn Social Club, a novel about football that's quite enjoyable even for people who don't care about football. He also won a prize for co-writing a musical comedy called Sherlock Holmes (The Early Years) which I unfortunately cannot find any other information about an am therefore forced to imagine as a singing and dancing version of Sherlock the TV series.

Roger Allam in The Tempest 2013

It seems that Roger Allam is taking the role of Prospero in The Tempest next year at The Globe in London. I haven't seen this reported anywhere else so it's not definite, I suppose, but it would be an odd thing to make up, even if it is derived from the Mail!

Heehee, I know what you mean. I recently got a book from ebay for a close friend of mine and the title (it's German) just SCREAMS like doing it in the evil voice and all and though it's not a name, I'm doing the voice each time the book is mentionrd or hinted at.
Or, fairly often, just without any reason really.
My friend has no idea what's the source of that but it became a joke between us nevertheless.

Same friend also started to photograph yellow cars, just because I'm playing it. He even put them on a blog and all. And he never ever listened to CP, nor will he.

It's so hilarious and lovely.

Okay, which of you lucky lords and ladies are going to the recordings tomorrow? And to those who aren't going, how much spoilers are you willing to read?

Me, I'm totally okay with spoilers from anything as big as 'He's been dead the entire movie' to as small as, 'he's the killer, duh.' But I know some peeps don't like that.

Also, how long does it take for episodes to be put up on itunes so I can buy 'em? Do I have to wait for the whole season to come out or can I buy them as each episode premieres?

If anyone knows a good winter or holiday Cabin Pressure story, please rec it. This fandom has been around a few years, there are bound to be some fantastic holiday stories, Christmas or winter or otherwise, and since I'm new I'd really like to read them!

Well, you could always just make a picture prompt. Post the link in the prompt post and see what authors might come up with.

Unless you have a rough direction you want a fill to go - or not to go. Then I would add this to the link.

... I don't write fanfic for it. Not anymore anyway.

I'm not sure why. I love the winter because oddly enough, I get a good vibe at this time of year. But I never write seasonal fanfiction. It's the same with Halloween.

On top of everything, in the past year, I've become a little less certain about what I'd like to write fanfiction wise because I've been having a personal crisis of confidence over it (dramatic as that might sound).

So, I'm all in favour of peace and joy and goodwill to all men - but I never seem to offer the same towards any of my characters. *blink blink*

I haven't written anything specifically Christmassy, though in 2006 my friend's Christmas present was a Valentine's Day based fic so... kind of?

Oh, there was a Moriarty/Moran, but I deleted that.

Everyone's being really good about not spoiling the content of the episodes so you won't have to worry about that.

One of the (many) things that makes me a bit envious of anyone who has a chance to go to these things is that it's one of the few instances where you get to see the actors working. It's as much behind-the-scenes as it is a performance itself. So you get to watch the actors work out how they want read a line and how they interact with each other out of character. It's something rare and when they are actors whose work you enjoy makes it even better.

Anyway, enough rambling. If anyone has found some other accounts, please feel free to share!

I opened up my new issue of Entertainment Weekly (the one with Martin Freeman as Bilbo on the cover) and on page 5, in the letters section, there's a mention of the delays in filming Sherlock.

They suggest four things to tide you over while you wait: the Jeremy Brett series, Doctor Who, Elementary and "this BBC radio show about the misfit crew of a charter airplane," Cabin Pressure.

I'm finding it really hard to be excited about the Hobbit. I saw the trailer and pretty much just thought "already saw this movie ten years ago." Maybe I'm just resentful about the delays it's created for Sherlock. Mostly I don't get why we need three 3-hour movies based on a children's book I could read in the time it takes to sit through one of those movies. A children's book that wasn't even particularly good. The whole thing just smacks of money-grab to me.

Thoughts? Someone convince me why I should go see this.

Because the Hobbit was less boring than the LOTR trilogy as a book? I have a soft spot for Bilbo and I'm excited with what Freeman can do with the character. He seemed perfectedly casted for the part. So I'm excited.
