Sorry if the poem is rubbish - I literally haven't written one since grade five.

REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

Tumblr made me do it.
The sheer brilliance of characters, stories, happy, and voices. (Douglas' voice most of all.)
Active in like two or three other fandoms, though not writing or anything.

This page lets you plug in locations and passengers etc and get an estimate of what a client would expect to pay for a charter flight in US dollars. Peg MJN at the low end of the small jet range or lower and that should give an idea of the going rates Carolyn might be charging.

The thing is useful and interesting! Thanks. However Gertie has 16 seats so it can not be a small or light jet. Either Large Corporate Jet Aircraft or Large Turbo-prop Aircraft.


This is relevant to my interests. I am plotting an AU fic where AU!Martin (successful entrepreneur Martin, rich.) is having re-occurring dreams and other Martin's thoughts are constantly leaking in to his life. All revolving around MJN air and flying. So he gets curious or bored and googles it, finding it actually exists.

As the canon Martin is worried MJN air will fold so is AU!Martin worried and starts booking trips and cancelling them. Essentially spending a lot of money without the crew having to do much work. Finally he just has to meet them. It's become an obsession and identity-crisis. Like Martin is much different from the insecure Martin turns out the rest are not how canon!crew is either. Without Martin they are much less a family on air. (possibly Marlas)

I can't imagine is totally free, even if they have to do the course.

But I assume the mistake about the quiche was an error from them, not from MJN Air, so maybe that's why Carolyn was so calm about it?

I think we kind of knew that might be the case as that's the general gist of what was reported when the show was recorded.
'Some time around christmas' has been floating about for a while but it's good to have more official confirmation.

So, as people have noticed, there is next to no modly presence on this board. (Arthur mod reads all the chatter post and keeps an eye on the Page-A-Mod page.) This is due to a few things, but the upshot is that we need new mods.

So. Who wants it?

If you want to be a mod, please email i.am.an.airplane.today@gmail.com with the following:

1. An email address you check regularly and can be contacted at.
2. Another place you can be contacted.
3. Any previous experience you might have. Please remember that enthusiasm will almost always trump experience, and I want to hear from whoever is keen.
4. An answer for the following situation:
You receive a complaint that someone on the meme has not been warning correctly. When you go to look at the offending post, the thing that they are not warning for is something that you personally do not believe counts as deserving as needing a warning, and what's more, the author is someone you recognise as being a friend. What do you do, and what do you eventually put up on the board as your final say in the matter?

All applications must be in no later than the 19th September. Anything received after midnight GMT will not be considered.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Cabin Pressure Advent Calendar

This is being organized by some bunch on Tumblr, I have nothing to do with it but thought it should be signal boosted here as a place of like-minded folk.

The Cabin Pressure Advent Calendar is a re-listen of the Cabin Pressure episodes with episode themed fic, fan art, meta etc encouraged. One episode per day starting Nov 28th right up until the night before the two-part Cabin Pressure finale airs on the 23rd and 24th of December (which will most likely be available worldwide through the BBC radio 4 IPlayer website, as the episodes have been in the past.) I think it's a fantastic idea; it would be great to rev up the old girl fandom for a whirlwind tour of the CP world before the finale airs, so please spread the word!!

If you've not been listening to The Frequency of Laughter (I advise it if you're interested in BBC Radio Comedy - it's unashamedly nerdy about the subject), the last episode has Jan Ravens talking about some of Finnemore's Now Show stuff and Justin Edwards talking Cabin Pressure... notably about the fans. I hope you guys realise just how delighted R4 are about being able to boast of a show with a much younger, more female weighted fan base than the majority of their programmes.

While it was fun, I was a little disappointed as it clearly was mostly a set up for the next episode. For me, Carolyn really takes the cake here. My heart goes out to her.

I wonder though, if Arthur had kept quiet, would Martin have gone through and turn down the job?
