Cabin Pressure Fic Page-a-Mod Post

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please. Welcome to the brand new Page-a-Mod post. This post does not have a spiffy banner, because I am not the mod who makes them, but all the same it has come to my attention that we may be in need of an easier way to get hold of someone in charge. I doubt this will be seeing much use, much like a life vest on a flight between here and Luton, but in the unlikely even that we crash into a swimming pool someone has an issue that they need addressed, you can do so here.

As always, anon commenting is on. Comments are not screened, so if you want absolute privacy, you can always PM this account.

spoiler about Jomeo dying!

It's not much of a spoiler warning if it gives away a spoiler *in* the warning, is it? *grumble*

Accidentally put my prompt in the wrong post because I'm a tool.

Would you, possibly, be able to provide some kind of guide as to how long it's going to be expected and/or required for prompters to warn for Sherlock S2 spoilers? There's at least one short temper on the topic already.
I thnk there's a couple of good points raised in this thread - http://cabinpres-fic.dreamwidth.org/783.html?thread=3126031#cmt3126031
-as people seem to have differing expectations of how long is ...well, long enough.

Prompt Post II has hit 5000 comments a few days ago. Is it time for a new prompt post?

Hi! I just wanted to mention that the Chatter, PaM, WIP, Filled, and Searching posts don't have links to Part III. I know we could just click the main community link at the top, but...for the sake of completion! :)

Hi Mods! Just wanted to say thanks for the intervention on the chatter post. It was getting a bit out of hand, so good call, and I'm sorry for my part in it. Much love, keep up the good work!

I'm normally an LJ person and am a bit dense here with DW. When trying to track a certain prompt, the first option is greyed out and I have no other option but to track the whole post.

Do I have to be a paying member in order to keep a tab only on certain comments?

Just an idea (I don't even know if it's an option), but would it be possible to have the meme quote link to the conversation/fill it's from?

Hello.

There is a fill in the festival of fills post but I know that I'm not going to get it done for the 30th.

I am still able to fill the promt after the 30th or will I need to post it somewhere else?

Loving the comm.:D

I don't have the mod logins on this computer, but I'm tracking the thread now. If it keeps going, I'll step in, but for now, it seems mostly benign.

Deletion request.

I'm the OP, please delete the following thread, I posted in entirely the wrong window.

Can you remove this? http://cabinpres-fic.dreamwidth.org/4207.html?thread=4799087#cmt4799087

It's depressing to see the post start off with such a negative, prompt-bashing comment. It's the second thing you see! :(

prompting just to self-fill

(Anonymous) 2012-04-15 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I've noticed a trend with some prompts (some of them pretty specific) being filled hours after being prompted. Now, (1) this can in no way be proven to be a self-fill, because some writers are that quick and awesome, and (b) I actually think prompting just so one can have an anon way of sharing a story is acceptable.

But.

Could we encourage the prompt-to-fillers to *say so* in the prompt, just so others don't get all primed up for writing only to discover that the story already existed?

There are plenty of plots I want to follow (far too many, enough for a lifetime ;) ) for which an actual story *doesn't* exist. I'd rather focus on those.

I'm sure people who are really bitten by the plot bunny will end up writing it regardless, so I wouldn't worry about squashing creativity. Just about - better allocation of resources, shall we say.

The link to the orphan post (in the other posts) says Oprhan Post.

"It also automatically turns itself on at 5000 comments, and unfortunately can't be over-ridden." (Quoted from the FAQ post)

Hey Chief, I might be wrong (hahaha!), but I think... I have a strategic master-stroke to counter that. One thing we could do is... close the prompting before it gets to 5000 comments.

This way, anon writers could continue to fill old prompts, and anon readers could continue to praise them, without having to compute how many body parts are in a pub, or how much is 19 minus a knee.

And... how does that sound to you?

Unhelpful comment...

Hey, could you do something about this: http://cabinpres-fic.dreamwidth.org/1272.html?thread=5739000#cmt5739000 ?

It's just a link without the other info on the filled prompt posts, and I know the thread title gives us the info, but it seems very against the spirit of surprising rice the FPP to ignore the rules about adding in the full prompt.

http://cabinpres-fic.dreamwidth.org/4207.html?thread=5895279#cmt5895279

As far as I'm aware there are no rules for self-filling, but this doesn't seem like the most practical option.

Possible trolls?

The first few comments on this prompt are really mean spirited, and as our community is one of the nicest, politest, and kindest there is, I do fear there might be troll(s) at work.

Not sure what the standart operating procedure is here, but I just thought I'd point that out.

Hi, I'm completely new to the whole idea of prompts and prompt filling. I saw a prompt that is very old (as in, was ported over from LJ last year), and I'm wondering if there is a time limit on how far back we should fill prompts?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if I don't ask, I don't learn. =)
