Welcome everybody. How you got here I have no idea but thank you for coming and welcome again, nonetheless . As you may have gathered this is a Fic Prompting Meme dedicated solely to the hilarious and oh-so-addictive BBC Radio 4 sitcom - Cabin Pressure. I'm aiming for this to be pretty anything goes - but in order for everything to run smoothly, there are a few guidelines. Don't worry - they're not too restrictive.

FILLING GUIDELINES

As you probably all know - our meme now has it's very own database created and maintained by the great Enigel. It both catalogues each and every prompt that we post and provides links to fills. You can find it here: Google Spreadsheet

We also have a Pinboard archive which has been put in place by the lovely oxfordtweed in the place of our late Delicious Archive. This Archive contains a list of all the prompts this meme has to offer - you can find it here: Pinboard Archive

This is a great step forward in making our meme just a little more organised (but not too organised of course. This is Cabin Pressure) which is always a good thing.

So in order to make things easier to archive - Please nest your fills.

This can be done by either posting each part as a reply to that part's immediate predecessor, OR by replying each time to Part I OR - well you get the idea :D

It makes it simpler for Enigel and myself to link fills in a clean and clear manner. Following these guildelines will be very much appreciated guys :D

REPROMPTING

Reprompting is allowed but please include the URL of the original prompt when you do so. It will make it infinitely more easy to Archive which would make both Enigel and I very happy :)

As for everything else

1. Be respectful to one another. Disagreements are fine, but not everything disagreeable is trolling. If you suspect someone of trolling, just ignore it. If you cannot respond to a comment without attacking or trolling someone else, keep it to yourself.


2. No bashing prompts. It might not be your cup of tea - but obviously someone wants it enough to go to the effort of requesting it. So just scroll past it.


3. Prompt away as much as you like guys - seriously, go wild - but please try to fill as well.

NEW - If your fill includes a major element that veers from the original prompt (crossovers, established universes, kinks, et cetera), please take a few moments to check with the OP that such additions are welcome. This has caused problems in the past and it only takes a few moments of your time.

4. Please no RPF. I'm not trying to oppress you RPF writers and enthusiasts, I would just really like to avoid any legal problems.


5. When you post a fill (or post a new part of a WIP) please go over to the Filled Prompts Post (if it is complete) or the WIP Post (if there are still more parts to come) and, following each post's guideline's, post a link to this fill or new part.

REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. So if you're here and you're under 18 please back button now.

+ Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

Shirtless Martin

Martin helps the students out with a charity car wash. It's a hot, sweltering day, and the rest of MJN swinging by (for the cause, of course) doesn't make things much better.

Then Martin removes his shirt.

Cue sputtering, someone exclaiming: "That's not fair!" and a sudden wave of generous people.

Do what you will, I'm not picky. I just want unexpectedly fit (and wet) Martin.

As a little kid, Martin dreamed of becoming an airplane animagus. As a teenager who has just graduated from Hogwards, he ran away from the wizarding world to study for a pilot's licence (since a muggleborn classmate informed him that airplanes are not animals and it would be rather impossible to turn into one). As an adult, Martin is a moderately happy airline captain who has almost forgot he can do magic. BUT THEN SOMETHING HAPPENS.

Martin has a photograph in his flight locker that he never lets anyone see. Douglas has seen him looking at it sometimes, a sad smile on his face, and has always wondered what's on it that makes Martin get so defensive when someone tries to look over his shoulder.

Turns out Martin has a photo of an ultrasound scan of the child he and his partner were going to have together, before complications arose and both mother and child died. Martin never talks about it, but always wonders what might have happened if things had turned out differently.

I was re-reading The Importance of Being Earnest and Algernon's lines kept coming out in Douglas' voice and it would amuse me a lot if someone would write a fic where Douglas has a supposed invalid friend/relative who he occasionally uses to get out of flying (he couldn't use it nearly as much as Algy or Carolyn would probably catch on). Bonus if one of the crew wants to meet Douglas' Bunbury/finds out he/she isn't real/etc. Or if Herc is Jack in this situation and is also a confirmed and secret Bunburyist...

TL;DR Douglas is a Bunburyist, hijinks ensue?

Martin as the House Grown-Up, with Douglas's assistance

So, I've been venting a lot of my RL issues in the fics I've been writing lately, as I've discussed with some of you. I'm about to become homeless, there's no one I can turn to for help, I got beaten up recently...not to be a whinypuss, I'm just saying: i've about reached the limit of how much catharsis I can get out of my own writing. I need someone else to take over.

So: One of Martin's housemates is having a problem of some major kind. She's being stalked by a freaky ex, or she's anonymously attacked, or something--whump needs to be involved. She and Martin have been friendly, but not close, up to the point when he walks in on her having some kind of breakdown over said whump. Martin, once he gets over being flustered (because everything flusters him a bit) immediately takes on the role of The House Grown-Up: he gives her a hug, holds her hand while he talks her through the scary experience, and then--takes care of it. Somehow. And he calls in Douglas, who, because he has a strong paternal streak and a daughter of his own, is delighted to help--not because Martin NEEDS help, just because two heads (or four fists) are better than one (or two.)

Yes, I know. Ridiculous and self-indulgent, but Christ, it would make me feel better.

Martin having an asthma attack

Martin has suffered from asthma when he was younger but hasn't had any problems with it for years and thought himself as cured. Then (preferably during a flight) something - a cold, a panic attack or something else - causes an asthma attack.

Arthur comfort

While this is not in any way inspired by my RL *cough* and I am in no way bitter about anything that's happened, I can't help but feel it might bear a little resemblance to Arthur's relationship with his dad.

Maybe Arthur, for whatever reason, sees Gordon again. And he catches Gordon saying to someone else just what he thinks of Arthur- he's stupid and useless. Arthur is, although not surprised, hurt by this and is caught in tears by Douglas and Martin and possibly Herc.

I'd just like them telling him how Gordon is a colossal arse and that they love Arthur to bits, and going all BAMF for him again. I need a bit of fluff in my life.

the betting between Douglas and Martin finally gets completely out of hand when they bet who can bed a woman they both agree upon. cue said woman overhearing about the bet and deciding to play them against each other which results ultimately in threesome-y goodness. (like the original prompt she can be a conduit for repressed desires, but just make sure that she gets hers.)

I'm watching Supernatural so this is sort of a crossover, but doesn't have to be. It's a show about two guys who hunt supernatural evil things. They call themselves hunters.

MJN encounters a big bad scary thing and Martin knows what to do to kill it. His grandfather or father was a hunter (or whatever) and taught him everything he knew.

When Martin gets down from his attic room to go to work he has to pass through the students' common kitchen. This time however, somebody Douglas climbs down the stairs with him. Cue flustered Martin who has to mumble a hello and introduction to the students already up, and face their questioning looks and smirks. :D

Either friendship or romance, and if you want to include what happened the night before that's definitely fine :)
