Welcome everybody. How you got here I have no idea but thank you for coming and welcome again, nonetheless . As you may have gathered this is a Fic Prompting Meme dedicated solely to the hilarious and oh-so-addictive BBC Radio 4 sitcom - Cabin Pressure. I'm aiming for this to be pretty anything goes - but in order for everything to run smoothly, there are a few guidelines. Don't worry - they're not too restrictive.

FILLING GUIDELINES

As you probably all know - our meme now has it's very own database created and maintained by the great Enigel. It both catalogues each and every prompt that we post and provides links to fills. You can find it here: Google Spreadsheet

We also have a Pinboard archive which has been put in place by the lovely oxfordtweed in the place of our late Delicious Archive. This Archive contains a list of all the prompts this meme has to offer - you can find it here: Pinboard Archive

This is a great step forward in making our meme just a little more organised (but not too organised of course. This is Cabin Pressure) which is always a good thing.

So in order to make things easier to archive - Please nest your fills.

This can be done by either posting each part as a reply to that part's immediate predecessor, OR by replying each time to Part I OR - well you get the idea :D

It makes it simpler for Enigel and myself to link fills in a clean and clear manner. Following these guildelines will be very much appreciated guys :D

REPROMPTING

Reprompting is allowed but please include the URL of the original prompt when you do so. It will make it infinitely more easy to Archive which would make both Enigel and I very happy :)

As for everything else

1. Be respectful to one another. Disagreements are fine, but not everything disagreeable is trolling. If you suspect someone of trolling, just ignore it. If you cannot respond to a comment without attacking or trolling someone else, keep it to yourself.


2. No bashing prompts. It might not be your cup of tea - but obviously someone wants it enough to go to the effort of requesting it. So just scroll past it.


3. Prompt away as much as you like guys - seriously, go wild - but please try to fill as well.

NEW - If your fill includes a major element that veers from the original prompt (crossovers, established universes, kinks, et cetera), please take a few moments to check with the OP that such additions are welcome. This has caused problems in the past and it only takes a few moments of your time.

4. Please no RPF. I'm not trying to oppress you RPF writers and enthusiasts, I would just really like to avoid any legal problems.


5. When you post a fill (or post a new part of a WIP) please go over to the Filled Prompts Post (if it is complete) or the WIP Post (if there are still more parts to come) and, following each post's guideline's, post a link to this fill or new part.

REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. So if you're here and you're under 18 please back button now.

+ Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

Both Martin and Douglas get better job offers (secretly, of course), and worry how the others will take it if they accept. So, both pilots start asking pointed questions, but begin to think the other is catching on that they may be leaving.

Cue guilty tiptoeing, small epiphanies, and hasty confessions.

bonus: Arthur convinces them both to stay w/o knowing it.

In Johannesburg, Martin says that he did the calculations on the falling candy to see whether they would be harmful or not.

Expand on that, and make Martin a math or physics buff, skills that he could do lots with if he wasn't so devoted to flying.

Again I'm feeling bad prompting yet something new with so many good prompts around but I just thought....

What if Martin is asexual, and Douglas (with his age and maybe due to his alcohol abuse) has certain problems in that area too, and both think the other wouldn't have him like that when they actually would fit together just perfectly.

Or they just got together and are too ashamed to bring it up, hence an akward something-like-sex-scene occurs before they find out.

Should be happy ending, and fluff and cuddles and love will alwas and ever be welcomed :)

Every living creature with a Y chromosome dies. Naturally, as nearly everything on Earth is run, managed, or owned by men, this rather throws everything into disarray. And now we have Carolyn, CEO to a charter air firm that has suddenly lost both its pilots. She's lost her son. She's lost her boyfriend.

But she does know one qualified female pilot (not that there's much left of the CAA to regulate such things). And there are an awful lot of women out there who still need to travel.

Oh...oh, this is an awesome and heartbreaking prompt. While I love "Y: The Last Man" and I love AU's with it, the idea of MJN without the pilots, and Carolyn without Arthur just hurts.

But seeing Carolyn and Linda pulling themselves through is a very cool thought. Maybe they could team up with Douglas and Herc' ex-wives (all seven of them), Douglas' daughter, Caitlin Crieff, Madam S-B, any female they have met in their travels.

Oh God, I really want this fic now!

So its the end of the world. And Arthur is the only one who knows about it. What does he do?

Arthur Shappey had a great weight on his shoulders, aged just 7 he was told by a man in a fez that the world would end on the 12th August 2012. At first he had told his Mum, but she'd hushed him, he'd told his Dad, but...well lets just say that didn't go well.

Over the years, little Arthur Shappey had tried to tell many people, but they'd all just smiled or laughed at him. So in the end, Arthur had decided the best thing he could do would live out his life as happily as possible.

He had done well over the last 27 years, never dwelling on his knowledge, keeping himself cheerful, living his happy life. Passing on the secret of his happiness whenever he could, especially to the brilliant people in his life, like Skip and Douglas and Carl and the postman.

However today is the 11th of August, and Arthur is sadly packing away his toy planes, because that's what his Mum always told him to do when he'd finished with them. He thinks that maybe he should tell someone, warn the people he loves once more that the world will end tomorrow, but then he thinks of the scene downstairs.

Skip and his new girlfriend Mary are downstairs, as is Douglas and his daughter, the guys from the airfield, and the girls from the Pony club, lots of happy laughing people. And his Mum looks gorgeous, and Snoopadoop is washed and pretty, and Herc, Herc had hugged him today and called him son, and Arthur had been so happy.

Today was his Mum's wedding day after-all, and Arthur wouldn't want to ruin everyone's happy day.

You don't have to use it exactly. You don't even have to use it at all. Just the general gist of it is fine. Pairing of author's choice.

There's another awesome steampunk AU on the meme, and it's made me hungry for more. So: MJN as a Steampunk!AU. That's it. MJN might be an air-ship/zeppelin, her crew could be merchants/pirates/scientists, whatever, just some more of those dashing gentlemen in top hats, and the indomitable Carolyn sporting a bustle which can knock a man out.

I had this idea for a fic, but I'm getting my tail kicked in training, so I'll leave it here for someone to succeed where I cannot.

Douglas wakes up each morning with a song in his head that tells him how the day's going to be. Love songs, sad songs, songs about doing nothing, songs about ducks, whatever. Take that wherever you like, although I'm a sucker for happy endings.

That would make so much sense! Why he's always so self-assured as if he already knows how every day is going to go, because he does. Why he's never worried about coming in too late when they're on standby, cause he can sense when it's just going to be one big day of waiting around doing nothing. Okay, I'm really sorry, Original!OP. But, you said it was fine, so I guess... here it is.

All Martin wanted was to be a normal priest, with normal sins to forgive. So it is most unwelcome when he starts hearing the line "Forgive me Father, for I have sinned..." followed with a variation of "...but you really do look too good for me not to lust for.". Suddenly everyone seems to have decided that he is the perfect target for their fantasies.
