Welcome everybody. How you got here I have no idea but thank you for coming and welcome again, nonetheless . As you may have gathered this is a Fic Prompting Meme dedicated solely to the hilarious and oh-so-addictive BBC Radio 4 sitcom - Cabin Pressure. I'm aiming for this to be pretty anything goes - but in order for everything to run smoothly, there are a few guidelines. Don't worry - they're not too restrictive.

FILLING GUIDELINES

As you probably all know - our meme now has it's very own database created and maintained by the great Enigel. It both catalogues each and every prompt that we post and provides links to fills. You can find it here: Google Spreadsheet

We also have a Pinboard archive which has been put in place by the lovely oxfordtweed in the place of our late Delicious Archive. This Archive contains a list of all the prompts this meme has to offer - you can find it here: Pinboard Archive

This is a great step forward in making our meme just a little more organised (but not too organised of course. This is Cabin Pressure) which is always a good thing.

So in order to make things easier to archive - Please nest your fills.

This can be done by either posting each part as a reply to that part's immediate predecessor, OR by replying each time to Part I OR - well you get the idea :D

It makes it simpler for Enigel and myself to link fills in a clean and clear manner. Following these guildelines will be very much appreciated guys :D

REPROMPTING

Reprompting is allowed but please include the URL of the original prompt when you do so. It will make it infinitely more easy to Archive which would make both Enigel and I very happy :)

As for everything else

1. Be respectful to one another. Disagreements are fine, but not everything disagreeable is trolling. If you suspect someone of trolling, just ignore it. If you cannot respond to a comment without attacking or trolling someone else, keep it to yourself.


2. No bashing prompts. It might not be your cup of tea - but obviously someone wants it enough to go to the effort of requesting it. So just scroll past it.


3. Prompt away as much as you like guys - seriously, go wild - but please try to fill as well.

NEW - If your fill includes a major element that veers from the original prompt (crossovers, established universes, kinks, et cetera), please take a few moments to check with the OP that such additions are welcome. This has caused problems in the past and it only takes a few moments of your time.

4. Please no RPF. I'm not trying to oppress you RPF writers and enthusiasts, I would just really like to avoid any legal problems.


5. When you post a fill (or post a new part of a WIP) please go over to the Filled Prompts Post (if it is complete) or the WIP Post (if there are still more parts to come) and, following each post's guideline's, post a link to this fill or new part.

REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. So if you're here and you're under 18 please back button now.

+ Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

Reposting because I deleted my old account so my posts are gone:

Martin is a virgin. Douglas worms it out of him while he's drunk and bets him he can't have sex in six weeks. If Martin does it, he gets to keep all blackmailing rights to the info about Helena. If he fails, he has to give it up.

On the last night, he asks Arthur to help. (top!Arthur please!)

I don't know what is going through my head, but here it goes...

when Martin was 16 (about 17 years ago) he was bullied, and felt unloved, ect. He found solace in the arms of an older woman.

martin has a nightmare and douglas comforts him, assuming they are sharing a room in a hotel because there were no two separate rooms and carolyn was desperate to find somewhere for her pilots to sleep?

He’d woken up in tears again, screaming…again. The nightmare faded from his eyes and left behind a trembling anxiety. And Douglas was there, arms tight around him, whispering quietly, tenderly…

And as he was catching his breath, Martin had to wonder when all of this had happened.

Douglas Richardson was supposed to be an asshole. He was supposed to torment people, especially Martin, to the point of no return.

He was supposed to make snide remarks about clients and their professions, and then joke about it later. [i]Because he was Douglas Richardson and he could do whatever he pleased. [/i]

‘Being there’ wasn’t in his repertoire. Comforting whispers and delicate hands… it was like watching an extinct animal prance through your kitchen and make you an omelet. It just didn’t happen, it [i]shouldn’t[/i] happen.

But an omelet is an omelet, I guess.

Martin took a shaky breath and relaxed in Douglas’s warm arms, “You have many faces, you know…”

“Yeah.”

Proud Martin needs help

Martin is pretty much broke again and hasn't had a paying job in weeks (Why? F.e. because who wants to/can move when everything's covered in snow?!).

He unintentionally mentions it do Douglas (we all know how good Douglas is at probing once he gets a whiff of something) who offers him a loan Martin is too proud to accept.

So Douglas teams up with Arthur and Carolyn to boost business for Martin. This can be hiring him themselves (under false names, see Arthur's birthday present for Carolyn) or spreading the word to friends or coming up with an ad of some sort (make him a website or flyers...), whatever you like.

And of course Martin will find out about it and, after some initial embarrassment, be very grateful.

Fit Martin, Peeved Douglas

Bastardizing a couple of awesome prompts to make a new one (it's like a virus or a superprompt!).

Martin's "man with a van" job gets him fit - soon he's bulked up with muscle. (Carolyn is not pleased about having to order new uniforms for him that will accommodate his new body.) He likes the feeling of being strong and fit, so he works out in his spare time (still, of course, listening to audio files of flight manuals as he does). Arthur is supportive but frankly confused by why Skip would want to change anything about himself - after all, he's brilliant! Carolyn could not possibly care less. And Douglas thinks it's pretty funny at first, but when the combination of Martin's new muscles and new confidence means that people start realizing that Martin really is the captain, Douglas gets peeved (because it's increasingly clear that he, Douglas, is subordinate to Martin). And then Carolyn suggests getting a brochure made, and Captain Crieff will be front and center, and that's where all the trouble starts . . .

Someone (maybe a passenger or a new crew member or whomever you come up with) hits on Martin. Like really aggressively. Constantly. Like all the time.
At first, Douglas and Arthur think its totally hilarious, joke about it and tease Martin merciless about his admirer. But then something happens that makes Douglas realize that Martin is really freaked out and massively uncomfortable about the whole thing, because the guys is really pushy and always tries to corner him or touch him inappropriately and keeps sending him really disgusting messages and stuff.
Cue for the whole crew being angry and totally protective of their captain. ;)
Gen is fine as well as Douglas/Martin.

I love the post-nightmare comfort fics written so far! But I was thinking...

Given how Douglas maneuvers the situations in his favour, it's much more often that Arthur ends up sharing a room with Martin. So: Arthur, comforting Skip after a nightmare (or more). Slashy or not, wherever the story leads you. :)

For some reason I'd like to see some Douglas and Arthur interaction and the only thing my brain can come up with at the moment is that Carolyn asks Douglas to give Arthur The Talk:

Carolyn thinks that the whole birds and bees thing should be done from one man to another and since she's divorced there wasn't anyone there to do it (and with Arthur's "luck" in girlfriends there was no need anyway). But now she thinks it's about time, so she somehow bullies Douglas into doing it. Cue lots of frustration for Douglas because, well, Arthur isn't the brightest bulb on Gertie's wing tip...

Blindfolded pilots

Martin and Douglas have a new bet going while they're on stand-by: Who can pinpoint more instruments in the flightdeck while blindfolded.
Arthur, equipped with some manual (must be Martin's, right?), calls up the instruments and keeps track (or at least tries to).

What happens when Carolyn walks in on this little scene? And how do our pilots like being blindfolded (i.e. do they like it? Maybe even a bit too much?)? Are they playing both at the same time or taking turns so they can watch each other? And whose silly idea was this bet in the first place? And what are they betting for?

MJN Air's latest passenger just happens to be...

MJN Air is asked to take on a last-minute booking when a commercial jet with a larger airline shows signs of potential mechanical failure.

Among the passengers for the flight to the US is Chesley Sullenberger and his wife. Sullenberger is the American pilot who successfully 'landed' US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River back in '09.
Arthur is estatic. Martin becomes a stuttering fanboy, and Douglas and Sullenberger get along as if they've known each other forever!

In one ep, Douglas mentions a brother. We hear nothing else about him as far as I can remember. That made me wonder if maybe they weren't exactly close... I would love him to be the bigger brother of Douglas, the one person who can and does easily break Douglas' confidence, maybe even treats him like a little boy and Douglas doesn't know how to fight it (never knew).

This bigger brother hires MJN to fly him around to world to conferences at different locations (so Douglas has to deal with him for several days for the full effect) and the crew get to see a very different side of their First Officer and while they are at first bemused, they somehow find a way to put the brother in his place and help Douglas become his usual self. Because, annoying as he sometimes can be, they prefer Douglas that way to the wrack of nerves his brother has turned him into.

I have an idea I can't get get out of my head....so pls anybody, write this *gg*

-Martin and Douglas have to share a Hotel room (Carolyn wants to save money)
->Douglas catches Martin by accident undressed in the bathroom and discovers that Martin has many many scars on his back -> older ones , Child abuse -> ( crying martin?)
In the end he finds out that martins father used to hit him with his belt when he was drunk (even more?....well that is even more sensitive it would be up to you )
(maybe Martins siblings are blaming Martin for his fathers misbehaviour and not their father -> bad relationship between the siblings) -> his dad is not dead
->Douglas feels very bad for Martin (very very much H/C Martin pls ,he is the perfect victim ! ) because Douglas used to be an alcoholic (we know that he is a reformed alcoholic) and he is a father ,too. So he identifies himself somehow with Martins dad -> Protecting Martin

Because a sporadic moving van business can't bring in that much cash, Martin takes some sort of job that requires his smooth, rich, beautiful, sexy baritone (yes, I get carried away). It could be, I don't know, for an audiobook, or those soothing automated recordings on the trains at big airports. Or even for another radio show! I haven't thought this through very well, so that's where you talented authors come in. You could have the MJN crew as major fans of this new radio show, where Carolyn swoons over the male lead's voice while Arthur fanboys and Douglas is secretly envious and admiring, and they don't know it's Martin because he usually sounds so stressed. OK, enough rambling on my part, just give me some of that beautiful Benedict voice!

Martin has started seeing a guy. Right now it's just dinner and sex and such, but the relationship has definite potential; everyone seems to think so. Martin thinks he's a pretty great guy, he just has a few eccentricities. One is that he often gives Martin a feeling that he's being used.

Another is that he insists on being called The Master.

Though reluctant at first, Martin starts a BDSM relationship (to what extent is up to you) that is not abusive or one-sided. The relationship helps him to improve himself.

Would rather Martin/OC, but either m/m or m/f is fine with me.

Genuinely, I was just thinking the other day that what Martin needs is a good and positive Dom to help him feel worthwhile and valued, and remind him that it's ok to take advice and delegate resposibilities he can't handle alone and that he isn't diminished by doing so.

I would love to see Martin and Douglas managing a crisis together. Like a bad storm, hijackers on board, anything you come up with. Mainly I want them switching from bickering and annoying the hell out of each other to being an awesome team and totally attuned to each other in an instant.
I absolutely adored how well they worked together in "Douz".

You know you're addicted when you start dreaming of prompts. O_o This is what I dreamt last night... only I woke up before the story was resolved, so... someone continue it for me, pretty please?

Martin has a van-job coming up and for some reason can't do it. He tells Douglas about missing a chance to make some money and Arthur overhears it and offers to help out. So Arthur showes up for the moving job and Douglas comes by because he's really curious what fiasco it will end in. And of course a fiasco it does end in, through probably not one he had expected:

At the pickup place, Arthur finds something valuable that is hidden behind some of the stuff supposed to get moved and when Douglas shows up, he excitedly takes it over to him to show him.

It's at that point, that they get arrested because the whole thing has been a staging by the police who suspected Martin to belong to a trick-burglary gang and now think Arthur and Douglas are part of it.

Martin has to try to save them all when the police come round to arrest him, too, as it's his van/business and the police mistake him for the head of the gang.

How do our three heroes get out of this situation, dear writer?

Douglas gets in over his head with his smuggling. Maybe he comes across a bad sort who want him to pass on things he's not comfortable doing, or maybe he is caught in the middle of an exchange gone bad.

Either way - he is in it bad with people who have no problem with beating the stuffing out of him to prove a point.
Which they naturally do (this is fan-fiction after all :D Where would we be without whump?)

Martin/Carolyn/Arthur find him after (or even during) the deed has been done and comfort ensues.

Something happens to Douglas's daughter- nothing really bad, just within the usual range of childhood accidents or illness- but it's the kind of thing that parents can't help but worry about when they're stuck in a foreign land.
Douglas is good at maintaining the appearance of being unconcerned even though he's actually squirmy as a bag of cats with the need to get home, and Martin for once in his life actually notices.
Somehow he comes to the conclusion that what Douglas really needs is maybe... possibly... a hug.

So he rather self-consciously gives him one.

It is very awkward, in a rather Martin-ish way. Though despite that it does actually make Douglas feel just a tiny little bit better. (Not that he'd ever admit as such, of course.)

Give me awkward platonic man!hugs and "We don't express our emotions, we're British!" snark and other airdot friendshippy loveliness.

Martin has an eating disorder; someone notices/finds out (I prefer Douglas, but I'm not overly choosy) and tries to help in their own way--either confronting Martin about it or more subtle attempts or whatever author chooses.

Somewhere during an overnight stay (somewhere they've been before Martin joined MJN), Arthur and Douglas both head off for some entertainment (not together, though), leaving Martin behind on his own. Bored, he walks around town and ends up in a club he hadn't realised was a s/m club. Imagine his surprise when he finds his first officer on his knees in front of a total stranger, obediently following every order he's given!

Martin watches without Douglas noticing him, he watches and learns. And the next time they have to share a room, Martin decides that it's time Douglas finally showed him some respect, and he now knows how to make him do it.

oh lord why do the awesome prompts come when i have an exam in four days. i was gonna prompt something similarly angsty and i may still do later but i do want to fill this one. what do u mean bu doesnt understand. do u mean he doesnt get why he does it or why it helps or something else.
