This is not your captain speaking, but I am speaking nonetheless to let everyone know that we are back online and ready to accept your prompts and comments!

You may notice that the comments from our old home aren't showing up yet, but rest assured that they will be here shortly, and in the order in which they were originally placed. So, if you've a fill to post, you may want to wait for the comments to go through before locating the prompt. It may be a bit rough for the next few days whilst we all find our feet again, but believe me, we're probably all feeling it. But I do still believe that this move was for the best, as do I'm sure many of you.

I'll be going through one last time to make sure everything is set up properly, but at this point, we are ready to go! :D

Locating threads using the old meme

Since DW was built on LJ's code, the way things are set up remain pretty much the same between platforms. So, if you've a prompt bookmarked that you are filling, or just need to find again, you can very easily find the prompt by using the LJ meme.

1. Go to the prompt that you want to find. To pick one at random, we'll use this one.


2. In the URL, change 'thread' to 'view.' Hit Enter.


3. Once the page takes a geological age to reload, scroll down to either the top or the bottom to find the page number the comment is on. In this case, page 14 of Prompt Post II.


4. Go to the appropriate page and post (page 14 of Prompt Post II, in this case) of the DW meme, and on that page you should find the prompt you were after.

This does require that the custom comment pages be turned OFF, because of the way the S2 comment pages don't work. For readability/accessibility reasons, I will not make that a global setting on the meme.

The easiest way to do this is to go into your layout options and where it says, 'Disable customized comment pages for your journal,' select YES and save the changes.

After that, go into your Account display options, and select the tick box for, 'View all journals and communities in my own style.'

You can turn these back off again when you're done searching. It seems to work on the current layout over there now. Disregard all this.


And if all else fails, try the brand new Searching Post!

Ah, yes. I knew there was something I was missing. It should be good, now.

And yes. The WIP/Filled Prompts Posts will link back to LJ permanently, which is one of the reasons the LJ meme will not be going anywhere, barring action on LJ's part.

I'm not sure how the spreadsheet/index people plan on handling that aspect just yet. It seems like an awful lot of work to change it all.

Of course, though I did mean the links in the mod posts ('PLEASE POST PROMPTS IN PROMPT POST II' leading to prompt post II back in LJ).

Perhaps a searching post may be useful, for those wanting to find the prompts and fills they were tracking? Or, to avoid clutter, make this post act as such?

Ah. Yes, I see. That's... odd. I've never seen it do that before. I'll have to poke it a bit.

As for finding stuff, there's a fairly easy way to go about it. I'm just writing up the instructions for it now. But yes, if people are looking for something, we can have a searching post as well.

I've done some poking around with the entries, and I think they may have just been temporarily redirecting whilst the import was still going on. They don't seem to be doing it anymore, but if you notice that it's still going on, let me know.


Also, I've added instructions for finding old prompts, as well as a new searching post. :D

I am not the spreadsheet person, so I can't answer for her. But I'm going to try to work out what to do with the index, and then I'll get back to you on that. Probably in the next day or so. But I'm always looking for help on that one. :D

Could I make a suggestion that you post a meme-has-moved update on the Second prompt post on LJ? As I usually surf directly to the prompt post rather than the main comm, I didn't notice there'd been an update that the move was complete. :)

I found the promptfill I was after (I am immensely grateful for the easy instructions on doing that, by the way!), but I wonder if prompts currently in progress need to be posted back on the old meme as well as here on the new?

If you've addressed this question anywhere, I couldn't find it, though I did look! Pinky swear!

Nope. The LJ meme acts as a mirror for anything that was posted up until the point of the move, since that's where the filled and WIP links all point to. But for posting, you only need to do it here. :)

Hi! Sorry I missed this, but it seems to have got lost in all the everything else. If you want to introduce yourself, you are more than welcome to do so in the chatter post! If you want to dive right in with posting prompts or fics, you're also welcome to do that as well.


As for the answer to your other question, everything that's on the LJ meme is on this account as well. Commenting is off on LJ because at this point, it's just being used as an archive for what was already done, since the filled/WIP posts all link back there. But no, no new content is being accepted there for reasons of moderator sanity. :)
