Sometimes Martin has a butterfly affect.

He doesn't live the way he does because he wants to, but because he knows by taking another choice, by going down a different road, he affects the lives of other people.

On days when he feels like being selfish, he looks to the future, sees the consequences of his actions bring, and steps down. He vows to "let nothing happen."

Then Douglas (unknowingly) changes his mind with this: (Stolen from Finding Nemo) "If you let nothing happen, Martin, then nothing will ever happen."
