After trying to carry on a long-distance friendship/relationship with Douglas for several months, Martin feels that Douglas has moved on and doesn't have time for him anymore, or finds his emails and calls an annoying inconvenience. So, Martin sends a polite, positive, friendly breakup email before crying himself to sleep.

Douglas is shocked by the message. He sets out to prove to Martin that he is still very much invested in his connection with Martin, in a uniquely Douglas way.
