I'm trying to finish a story I started writing ages ago, but it's got all sorts of technical stuff and keep researching things I hardly understand. It's a good thing I'm not a pilot.
Anyway, reading this:
"The standard rule defines an East/West track split: Eastbound – Magnetic Track 000 to 179° – odd thousands (FL 250, 270, etc.) Westbound – Magnetic Track 180 to 359° – even thousands (FL 260, 280, etc.)"
I'd say 21,000 (FL 210) cruising altitude would be okay for a trip from Fitton to Holland? (Short flight, so not that high?) I have no idea whatsoever what a magnetic track is, but that flight would be eastbound, so, yes?
Also, I need a beta/Britpick. I know I'm supposed to ask elsewhere, but *bites finger nails* I don't think many people read the beta-wanted thing.
If anyone is interested: the fic in question is more or less finished, it's plotty and there's quite a bit of technical stuff, and it's (mild) D/M.
I think it's the best Cabin Pressure fic I've ever written, but then again, I often think that way about a fic I'm currently writing...
Research and stuff- question and request
