Douglas, because he's never lived alone before, is absolutely terrible at things like ironing, washing clothes, etc. He's good at cooking because he likes it, but otherwise his wives have taken care of that for him.
Martin, because he's only lived alone, is great at all that stuff. Except for cooking, because he's never had the supplies or time to learn.
Clearly, the two of them need some sort of arrangement whereby Martin irons Douglas's shirts/uniform in exchange for meals. Basically, just domestic (gen) fluff between the two of them.
