Chatter Post II

Please see the most recent MOD NOTE and ADDENDUM

(updated 5 July)

New chat post, same rules. Brit-pick, ask questions, debate, gossip, gush and generally indulge in any fannish activity that does not fall under the category of posting or filling prompts. I hope you all enjoy it

The usual guidelines apply, but mostly:

-  Please be respectful to one another.

-  Don't bash other (non)anon's comments/questions/ideas/etc.

-  Have fun

Now go forth, chat amongst yourselves and enjoy. I am of course on stand, so if any problems arise, feel free to drop me a line.

And if you stumble across any plot bunnies here, please just drop them off home at the Prompt-Post, the rest of the herd will be overjoyed to meet them.

Or as they say in Limerick

It's been brought to my attention we are needing
A place for discussion, not reading
I hope this post will do
I'll leave the rest to you
And Beware of the plot bunnies breeding

Sorry if the poem is rubbish - I literally haven't written one since grade five.

REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. So if you're here and you're under 18 please back button now.

Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

Other than that - go crazy guys. Any problems please just message me and I'll try my best to work it out.

2012 recordings

(Anonymous) 2012-11-28 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Come on, spill the beans - has anyone received their tickets for December 2nd, at least?

Unlucky Martins won't be notified either way, so I'd like to know if I should stop holding my breath (I'm getting a bit blue) and let it out in a sad mournful sigh...

(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
If the Hobbit delayed Sherlock, is there a risk of delayed Cabin Pressure?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
I believe it was delayed because Martin Freeman was unavailable, not BC. But I'm not a 100% sure on that.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-29 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
To be more accurate, 'work commitments' delayed someone in their ability to start come January. Exactly who that someone is, I don't know. But as it's January, and two thirds of Cabin Pressure recording happens in December with only one straggler at the start of the month, I'm not too worried.

Though as The Hobbit pt1 will have premiered by that point, I don't think it's that delaying filming so urgently. The only thing Martin would need to do for that is pickups for pt2 or 3.

More relevent, that Assange biopic Cumberbatch is involved with is rumoured to start shooting 'at the beginning of the year' and if that's an accurate estimate then it's also likely the thing responsible for delaying Sherlock. 3 months is a pretty average shoot length for that kind of movie. But I don't think it would preclude Cumberbobble from being able to record CP on the 6th.

Warhorses of Letters

(Anonymous) 2012-11-30 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
The second series of this beautiful love story between Napoleon and Wellington's horses (as told through the letters they wrote to each other and many, many horse puns) started a couple of days ago. Here's a link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01p0s13

It's probably the most absurd thing on Radio 4 right now. Which is an amazing feat when you consider that the news series of Bleak Expectations is also currently airing.

It's possibly notable to Cabin Pressure fans because in the live tryouts John Finnemore played Copenhagen to Robbie Hudson*'s Marengo. (Stephen Fry and Daniel Rigby star in the radio version.)

*Possibly notable for being co-writer of the this series, being the former *sniff* flatmate to frequent Finnemore collaborator David Mitchell and being the author of The Kilburn Social Club, a novel about football that's quite enjoyable even for people who don't care about football. He also won a prize for co-writing a musical comedy called Sherlock Holmes (The Early Years) which I unfortunately cannot find any other information about an am therefore forced to imagine as a singing and dancing version of Sherlock the TV series.

Thank you for the rec, if I had a bit more time to spare I'd definitely check it out. :)

(Also, I love your sense of humor.)

Roger Allam in The Tempest 2013

(Anonymous) 2012-12-01 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
It seems that Roger Allam is taking the role of Prospero in The Tempest next year at The Globe in London. I haven't seen this reported anywhere else so it's not definite, I suppose, but it would be an odd thing to make up, even if it is derived from the Mail!

Bwwhaa, this is priceless!
Thank you so much for the heads-up.
Kiss, kiss hoof print!!!!
Shmuttercup!! (sorry, no idea about the spelling)
I think I snorted, or snickered, or both.
This is adorable. Do you have by any chance an idea how to listen to the first series?

At least I didn't do the voice. Well. Not out loud, anyway.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-01 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Always awkward when you pick up a bottle of Heston Blumenthal Mulled Cider in Waitrose & then realise you're quietly laughing to yourself in the middle of the booze aisle because Hesssston BlOOOOOMenthaaaal.

Cabin Pressure: Making its fans look like nutters in the middle of posh supermarkets.

Heehee, I know what you mean. I recently got a book from ebay for a close friend of mine and the title (it's German) just SCREAMS like doing it in the evil voice and all and though it's not a name, I'm doing the voice each time the book is mentionrd or hinted at.
Or, fairly often, just without any reason really.
My friend has no idea what's the source of that but it became a joke between us nevertheless.

Same friend also started to photograph yellow cars, just because I'm playing it. He even put them on a blog and all. And he never ever listened to CP, nor will he.

It's so hilarious and lovely.

Excellent! Thanks for the heads up. I do think Wellington is right about the potential stalker, though. Marengo needs to look out!

Duh! I am stupid. Copenhagen, not Wellington, of course!!!

Re: At least I didn't do the voice. Well. Not out loud, anyway.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-01 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
da

Would there be a link available for the Yellow Car blog, or is it a private thing?

Re: At least I didn't do the voice. Well. Not out loud, anyway.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-01 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried not to play Yellow car, but now I am so overly conscious when a yellow car passes me, I can't help but notice yellow cars when they pass me.

I have a new mug and on it, the story of the Emperor's new clothes is painted on it. Now every time I use it, I say to myself, "Ha ha! I can see the Emperor's winky!"

Russell Crowe will always be evil to me.

I still have nightmares about my university days. I keep dreaming I'm missing a class or I'm missing an important test or I "un-graduated." So when I tell my sister of this, we refer to them as the 'Sea Lion in a hat' dreams.

It's on iTunes and Audible. And there's also a book version out from Unbound (In which Mr. Finnemore is listed as a contributor. (So am I, but I'm not telling who I am.)) Other than than, I'm not sure.

I hope you find something that works. Although, be warned, you may find yourself using the phrase "Oh my horsey god!" a lot.

It's not private or so and I happily give you the link.
But then, this friend doesn't know anything about my fandom life (and I hope it'll stay this way) and seeing some of the last comments here and on the lj comm, I'm paranoid someone might out me.
Silly, I know.
Anyway: If you pm me, I send you the link right away.
Sorry.
