Welcome everybody. How you got here I have no idea but thank you for coming and welcome again, nonetheless . As you may have gathered this is a Fic Prompting Meme dedicated solely to the hilarious and oh-so-addictive BBC Radio 4 sitcom - Cabin Pressure. I'm aiming for this to be pretty anything goes - but in order for everything to run smoothly, there are a few guidelines. Don't worry - they're not too restrictive.


FILLING GUIDELINES



Please nest your fills.

This can be done by either posting each part as a reply to that part's immediate predecessor, OR by replying each time to Part I OR - well you get the idea :D

It makes it simpler for Enigel and myself to link fills in a clean and clear manner. Following these guildelines will be very much appreciated guys :D

REPROMPTING



Reprompting is allowed but please include the URL of the original prompt when you do so. It will make it infinitely more easy to Archive which would make both Enigel and I very happy :)

As for everything else



  1. Be respectful to one another. Disagreements are fine, but not everything disagreeable is trolling. If you suspect someone of trolling, just ignore it. If you cannot respond to a comment without attacking or trolling someone else, keep it to yourself.

  2. No bashing prompts. It might not be your cup of tea - but obviously someone wants it enough to go to the effort of requesting it. So just scroll past it.

  3. Prompt away as much as you like guys - seriously, go wild - but please try to fill as well.

    4. NEW - If your fill includes a major element that veers from the original prompt (crossovers, established universes, kinks, et cetera), please take a few moments to check with the OP that such additions are welcome. This has caused problems in the past and it only takes a few moments of your time.
  4. Please no RPF. I'm not trying to oppress you RPF writers and enthusiasts, I would just really like to avoid any legal problems.

  5. When you post a fill (or post a new part of a WIP) please go over to the Filled Prompts Post (if it is complete) or the WIP Post (if there are still more parts to come) and, following each post's guideline's, post a link to this fill or new part.


REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM



According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. + Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

X-Men Crossover/Fusion

Long prompt coming up...I watched X-Men the other day and now this idea won't leave me alone.

Martin is a mutant but tries desperately to hide it because of the prejudice they suffer (maybe that’s why it was so hard for him to become a pilot?). None of MJN know until he accidentally uses his powers (I’m thinking firestarter? Something dangerous/hard to control) in front of one of them, preferably Douglas. He’s terrified of getting fired/found out by his landlord and evicted/etc … but it turns out all/some of the others are mutants, too.

Douglas – suggestibility? (As in, he can plant ideas in people’s minds, but not force them to act, and he can mould objects but not change their nature entirely – he can take one key and make it fit any lock, but he can’t turn the key into a tennis ball or something.)

Arthur – empathy/can read emotions but maybe not very precisely, like if he’s faced with two people he can’t always tell who is feeling which emotion.

Carolyn – anything you like, even if it's nothing.

Hey, throw Herc in too if you want.

Feel free to mess with specifics, they’re just the suggestions that stick in my mind. :-)

TL; DR – Martin is a mutant and thinks MJN will reject him if they find out. Actually, all/some of the others are, too.

Martin is asexual, Douglas has never been attracted to a man... but they fall in love anyway.

I've read tons of Sherlock fics with asexual Sherlock and straight John, and I'm curious how this type of relationship would work out between Martin and Douglas :) I hope borrowing ideas from other fandoms is allowed.

Recently divorced and disenchanted with the idea of dating again, Douglas decides instead to save up for a domestic slave. In part because he doesn't much care for housework, and in part because it means there'll always be someone around the house to keep him company. Someone who can't leave him.
He buys Martin.

Gen or shippy is good, as is angst about the validity of consent between a master and his slave.

Everything else up to the filler.

Martin isn't close to any of his siblings, but he especially tries not to think about Mycroft and Sherlock. He's proud of their scholarships and accomplishments, but it just hurts too much that they seem ashamed of the rest of the family and their working class roots.

But one day, Martin meets his brothers again and his frustrations grow. Whether he confronts them or grows to love them, and how they react is to Martin, is up to the writer. However, I would like MJN to be supportive of Martin.

(I have an angsty fic in mind, but cracky comedy would also be great. Bonus if Arthur is involved in a mystery somehow.)

Martin has been underestimated and unappreciated his whole life. He doesn't expect anyone to like him, let alone want him.

When his omega status emerges, every alpha in Fitton is at his door with flowers, songs, jewelry, food, and other accoutrements of wooing. Alphas in this dimension of the omegaverse are totally into winning and keeping the omega's affection before filthy sexy stuff happens.

Martin doesn't want to take advantage, but it's so nice to have his suitors around that he lingers about making up his mind. Who eventually wins fair Martin's heart? What does the suitor do to convince Martin that he or she is the one?

Bonus points if Herc is trying to steal Martin from Douglas.

Douglas's ex-wife passes away. He gets full custody of his daughter. Cue daughter dealing with her grief, Douglas dealing with that, dealing with a certain amount of grief of his own(this was the mother of his only child, after all, and they must have loved one another at some point). And then the logistics of being a working single parent with a job that requires travel. The others at MJN start helping out (of course).

Prefer Gen/Friendship, with a helping of MJN as a sort of family.

The MJN crew are patients in a psychiatric ward.
Carolyn Knapp isn't Arthur Shappey's mother, he just thinks she is, and no one can figure out why she humors him. Martin is mute/semi-catatonic, but the others talk to him normally. Douglas is, well Douglas. Other characters can be patients, staff, or relatives as filler sees fit. (Huge bonus if someone is actually a doll).

When Martin finally decides to prostitute himself, he's very careful about who his clients are (maybe only takes referrals from trusted clients after a bit?) and surprises himself with how much he enjoys his work. He likes stepping outside himself to embody other people's fantasies.

How does MJN react when they find out?

If the filler shows Martin with his clients, I'd prefer male and female ones, please.

Long, weird omegaverse prompt (tw: child death)

generally omegaverse isn't to my taste because of the erasure of women (in the hands of bad writers, I haven't read any Cabin Pressure ones that get my hackles up)

But then I thought of a scenario where omegaverse makes sense to me, so bear with me, this is going to be long

So, in the past, turn of the century, steampunk kinda feel, very SCIENCE! and such, a mad scientist releases a virus that kills all the women.

But through the power of PURE HANDWAVIUM! a solution is found, whereby another retrovirus/pseudoscience thingy makes some men into omegas, men who can bear children. (Alphas come later, they are an unintentional side effect.)

But, men carry both X and Y chromosomes, so fifty percent of the time, omegas have girl babies. But they don't survive because the virus is still active.

When Douglas and Martin finally get together and have their first child, they are heartbroken that she's female. They still love her dearly, but no female children have ever lived past 48 hours.

Until now.

They can't believe it, they daren't hope but after three months or so and their little girl is still with them and the doctors are calling her a miracle. They have to deal with the doctors and the media circus and everything else that comes with having the first girl to live in over a hundred years.

(this would assume that Douglas' daughter becomes a son, I guess)

Martin is a guardian angel. Specifically, Douglas' guardian. But he was kicked out of heaven and is stuck as human Martin due to interfering years ago when fate decreed Douglas was to die. He has dedicated his human existence to connecting back up with Douglas. It's all good, until he's forced to reveal his wings.

At the reading of Martin's Nana's will, everyone is upset because she left everything to Martin.

They all shut up when the ledger Nana kept is read. Seems everyone in the family borrowed money off her at some point, no one paid it back.

Except Martin, who never took anything from her in the first place, his pride wouldn't let him.

Arthur's cooking experiments reach new heights when his latest dishes turn one pilot of MJN female (shouldn't have had the fish) and one pilot into a child (but the stew wasn't any better).

Up to author which way round it goes, but the one reduced to a child retains their adult mind (with childish emotions if you want).

It wears off (eventually), but in the meantime...

Due to a freak accident, Martin is thrown back in time - with no way back. He's determined to lay low and not change anything, but he's Martin, so somehow he makes young Douglas fall in love with him instead of his first wife.

(if they author goes the happily ever after D/M way, I'd love a meeting between the older Martin and pre-time travel Martin. Just a suggestion though.)

Douglas loves the fact that Martin is so short and petite - he fits perfectly into Douglas' arms. Martin loves the fact that his partner is so much taller than him - he feels safe, protected and loved whenever they're together.

I had no idea what the actors who play them look like until very recently, so I always imagined Martin to be about 5'5 and Douglas 6'4 or 6'5... it's just a suggestion though :)

Martin falls through a puddle due to a spell and ends up in 1616 England. He is almost killed because he was branded a heretic/witch/weirdo and Knight!Douglas saves him.

Martin does his best to keep his 21st century knowledge on the download, but it comes out in small ways....
