Welcome everybody. How you got here I have no idea but thank you for coming and welcome again, nonetheless . As you may have gathered this is a Fic Prompting Meme dedicated solely to the hilarious and oh-so-addictive BBC Radio 4 sitcom - Cabin Pressure. I'm aiming for this to be pretty anything goes - but in order for everything to run smoothly, there are a few guidelines. Don't worry - they're not too restrictive.


FILLING GUIDELINES



As you probably all know - our meme now has it's very own database created and maintained by the great Enigel. It both catalogues each and every prompt that we post and provides links to fills. You can find it here: Google Spreadsheet

We also have a Pinboard archive which has been put in place by the lovely [personal profile] oxfordtweed in the place of our late Delicious Archive. This Archive contains a list of all the prompts this meme has to offer - you can find it here: Pinboard Archive

This is a great step forward in making our meme just a little more organised (but not too organised of course. This is Cabin Pressure) which is always a good thing.

So in order to make things easier to archive - Please nest your fills.

This can be done by either posting each part as a reply to that part's immediate predecessor, OR by replying each time to Part I OR - well you get the idea :D

It makes it simpler for Enigel and myself to link fills in a clean and clear manner. Following these guildelines will be very much appreciated guys :D

REPROMPTING



Reprompting is allowed but please include the URL of the original prompt when you do so. It will make it infinitely more easy to Archive which would make both Enigel and I very happy :)

As for everything else



  1. Be respectful to one another. Disagreements are fine, but not everything disagreeable is trolling. If you suspect someone of trolling, just ignore it. If you cannot respond to a comment without attacking or trolling someone else, keep it to yourself.

  2. No bashing prompts. It might not be your cup of tea - but obviously someone wants it enough to go to the effort of requesting it. So just scroll past it.

  3. Prompt away as much as you like guys - seriously, go wild - but please try to fill as well.

    4. NEW - If your fill includes a major element that veers from the original prompt (crossovers, established universes, kinks, et cetera), please take a few moments to check with the OP that such additions are welcome. This has caused problems in the past and it only takes a few moments of your time.
  4. Please no RPF. I'm not trying to oppress you RPF writers and enthusiasts, I would just really like to avoid any legal problems.

  5. When you post a fill (or post a new part of a WIP) please go over to the Filled Prompts Post (if it is complete) or the WIP Post (if there are still more parts to come) and, following each post's guideline's, post a link to this fill or new part.


REALLY IMPORTANT ADDENDUM



According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. So if you're here and you're under 18 please back button now.

+ Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

Other than that - go crazy guys. Any problems please just message me and I'll try my best to work it out.

There was a line, and I can't remember where, that said that Douglas 'started early' when he was talking to Martin. And my brain lead me to this.

Douglass is Martin's biodad.

"No, Martin. Melissa's parents were rich and not particularly religious. You do the math."

"What are you saying?"

"Very young?"

"...not involved, but I know she fought with them until she got her way. You were a wanted child."

"What?"

"I'm very glad she did."

I'm hoping someone might be inspired to do a proper length story. I'm flailing between various on- and off-line commitments, but I needed to exorcise the plot bunny before it bred. (No unfortunate innuendo intended.) Or I might expand on it... sometime in the next year(s). >.<

“You want to know why you didn’t get any money, Martin? It’s because you’re not Dad’s son. You’re not Mum’s sun, either. You were adopted because you were some stupid mistake by two young idiots. You were forced on the family, Martin. My parents were emotionally blackmailed into it, and...”

“No. You’re lying. You have to be!”

“You know it’s the truth, Martin.” His brother said as he slammed the phone down.
Martin broke down in one of Gerti’s passenger seats. All alone – like he had been all his life.

.......................................................................

Douglas found him half an hour later. He found Martin curled up on the seat pulling at his hair, with a bright red face and watery eyes.

“Martin? MARTIN?”

“What?” he murmured in responce.

“What on Earth is wrong with you?”

“N-n-nothing” he replied, hoping dearly that Douglas would just piss off. He didn’t need to be laughed at about this.

“Oh Sir, are you just tearing yourself apart for no reaosn?” Douglas moved closer to his son. Little did he know that he’d be revealing this fact within then next few minutes.

“FUCK OFF.”

'How dare he speak like that to me!' Douglas thought to himself. He was about to verbally attack Martin back, but as he opened his mouth and looked into the captain’s eyes, he decided to shut the fuck up for once in his life. The misery being emitted from Martin was almost unbearable, and he had the feeling that had he been someone who had tormented Martin about, well, everything, said Martin would’ve let him help by now.

“Martin, I we’ll never talk about this again if you don’t want to, scout’s honour. Please just tell me what’s wrong.”

“I... I... Uh... I was a mistake, Douglas. And then I got forced on my... that family. They didn’t even want me. My own parents didn’t want me. All I’ve ever done is cause people trouble.” He curled back up.

Douglas knew that he had to tell him. He just didn’t know how.


Should I write more or leave it like that? ~N

"Martin. Look, I have something to tell you. ...Look at me."

Martin slowly turned so he was looking at Douglas. His face was flushed, his eyes were red and he was trembling - Douglas hated seeing his son like that. He felt like he'd failed. He usually felt like that - he's just good at hiding it; this time, however, it was worse. It was completely and entirely his fault that his own son was in this terrible situation of what was probably depression (he had been to a medical school, he knew this stuff).

"Martin. I don't know how to tell you this, but I am your father."

Martin just flipped. He jumped up and started walking towards Douglas while hurling abuse.

"WELL WHY DIDN'T YOU FUCKING TELL ME? WHY HAVE YOU SAT IN THAT COCKPIT FOR ALL THOSE HOURS AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN THINK TO MENTION IT? DIDN'T WANT THE RESPONSIBILITY DID YOU? OR DID YOU SIMPLY NOT CARE, DOUGLAS? YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING, DO YOU? WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE JUST ABORTED ME? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE ME SUFFER? JUST, WHY?"

Douglas internally screamed. His own son wishing he'd been aborted. His own son wanting out of life. He felt ashamed; not only did he know it was his own bloody fault, but it was apparent to all others.

However, the immediate problem was a righteously angry Martin who'd cornered him and who was holding some sort of blunt object that'd fallen off of Gerti recently.
