Festival of Fills I

Greetings! While Prompt Post III is chugging along nicely, there remain prompts from the previous posts that are looking a bit lonely. Just to make sure some of those brilliant ideas aren't forgotten forever, we're having a little festival to get as many of the posts filled as possible!

Here's how this works:

  1. Find prompts that you like

  2. Fill them!

Only prompts from Parts 1 and 2 are eligible. You are, of course, still perfectly welcome to fill prompts on Part III, but they may not be posted here (exception: fills answering reprompts are also eligible and may be announced on this post). You may nominate old prompts here by posting under the Nominations thread and following the same format as when reprompting: link to the original and paste in the prompt. The prompt you nominate doesn't have to be your own. While the prompts that you fill and/or nominate are not required to be un-filled, it is strongly recommended.

When you've done your fill, post it to Part 1 or 2 as you normally would, and then announce it here. This isn't a contest, so participants will not receive anything for their participation, but there is a goal. The goal is to create as many fills as reasonably possible, and will set the bar for the next festival post. Usual meme rules apply, and you may be logged-in or anon, whichever you're more comfortable with.

If you would like to find prompts of a certain subject, the best way to do that is through the Pinboard Index (Post 1 is indexed in its entirety; Post 2 is still being worked on, but it's getting there).

This post officially opens now, and will remain open until 30 March.

Happy Filling!

Here's one!

Clearly, the way Martin treats but more importantly the way everyone else allows him to treat emergencies differs completely from series one to St Petersburg. And I like to think that this is more than Douglas and Carolyn becoming more relaxed, but Martin becoming more competent.

So, give me the times when Martin is competent and the others, however secretly and with or without Martin's knowledge, acknowledge that. Small things - remembering where something obscure is, knowing a procedure that no one else bothers to know because it's so irrelevant but just happened to be relevant here.

I was flicking through the first prompt post and this one caught my eye:

"Carolyn arranging a marriage between Martin and Douglas.

No, I have no idea why, but I want it. Maybe there's some kind of benefit or something? IDK, I just want Carolyn going around all 'You MUST get married, or I'll fire you!'"

Douglas is a foster father. He's very good at what he does. Arthur is his step-son, an eager little boy who is always willing to help calm the nerves of new arrivals.

Little Martin Crieff is the new arrival. A boy so quiet he is feared mute, his anxiety so bad he is constantly sick.

Can Douglas and little Arthur help young Martin come out of his shell?

Re: Nominations

I really liked this one especially with the added anon idea that the person should be Mycroft.

Someone (can be from CP or any fandom) gets sick of seeing Martin living hand to mouth and decides to take care of him. It starts with grocery deliveries before it progresses to a new wardrobe and upgrades on his van. Perhaps they even treat him to a whole new uniform. Martin's initially indignant, because he can absolutely support himself thankyouverymuch, but he has to admit that it is nice to have more than baked potatoes as a treat and his new jumpers are warm...

tl;dr Someone (anyone from any fandom) makes Martin their kept man. Whether this leads to romance is up to the filler.

Blending/slightly rewording the OP and [personal profile] disassembly_rsn's explanation of the setting-

Anne McCaffrey's brainship/shellpeople series starts with the short story collection The Ship Who Sang. The series is set sometime in the far future, when people born with very severe and otherwise untreatable physical problems can undergo neurosurgery as infants, after which their bodies are encased in a life support system (called a 'shell') such that their motor nerves are re-routed to run equipment rather than trying to move their own bodies, and their sensory nerves are hooked up to cameras/sound systems/whatever, and so on.

The kids are then put through very intense schooling for very specialized jobs, and when they grow up, they're given government jobs running installations (e.g. space stations) or spaceships. They're under contract at that point - they're in debt for the massive initial cost of educating them and setting them up, and they need to pay that off in order to be able to work independently.

"Maybe Gerti's an older model who bought out her contract ages ago and Arthur's her great-great grandnephew, which is why she's working with Carolyn now." - In this scenario, Gerti would have paid off her initial costs and would now own her spaceship 'body' outright. That would most likely mean that she was well over a century old, because spaceships tend to take decades to buy out their contracts, what with maintenance costs on top of their initial debts.

"Or is Martin so rule bound because he just got installed (shell persons do tend to be, before spending a century or so around us softies)?" - This scenario would have Martin as a shellperson just out in the world from Central Lab Schools. Their education is very intense, and they don't have time to develop outside interests until they're out in the real world. They also tend to be very literal minded (one ship in the books took the quote 'Second star on the right and straight on til morning' as the actual heading he was supposed to take) and unlikely to think outside of the box at the start of their careers; after a few decades of real-life experience and working with other people, they usually loosen up a bit.

Original prompt:

The reason Martin failed his test so many times was because the person testing him sexually-assaulted him. The crew run into him one day and Martin freezes up. Arthur is the one who figures it out.

Re: Nominations

(Anonymous) 2012-03-16 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)

Martin has built up a really big karmic debt in his favor, after 34 years of being Martin.

The downside? It only pays out in really idiotically tiny ways. Like... he's never in his entire life lost his page in a book. And every time he's ever bought a pomegranate something has happened to make it far cheaper than it should've been. Whatever anon likes, but nothing big or important or even particularly noticeable.

I dunno, I guess I'm asking for some crack...?

Re: Nominations

(Anonymous) 2012-03-16 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)

I want something physically violent to happen to Martin. Anything at all. Something really, genuinely terrible, drawn out, bloody and agonising. Something where you can just about put on a brave face until you realise how very long it will be before it gets even a little better, and then everything crumbles. And I want everyone to be there, or maybe get there half-way through - only that they can't do a single thing except for repeating useless platitudes and to wait it out.

I want to know how Martin deals with it, and how everyone else does, and what happens afterwards, when the world is slowly piecing itself painfully back together again.

If any pairings at all D/M, but I'm equally fine with gen.

Nominations: "one year of my life to look like you"

(Anonymous) 2012-03-17 12:33 am (UTC)(link)

So, with the 'help' of some witch|wizard|goblin|pixie|whatever, Martin does it.

He gives one year of his life in exchange for looking like Martin Davenport.

Problem is, the magical entity didn't tell him that he'd be giving a year from his past, not his future...

(Maybe it's the year he finally got his pilot's licence, maybe it's the year his dad died. Maybe it's just memories he loses, maybe it's like the year never happened. So many possibilities, pick one. Or more!)

This seems to be a prompt that's been asked for a couple times:

"You think you're this invincible pilot but things go wrong for everyone."

H/C fanfic based off that whole strip of dialogue, but mostly this line.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-17 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The original one is here

And the prompt is

Martin + Anal hook

Sherlock/Martin get it on for Douglas & John

(Anonymous) 2012-03-17 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)

Pretty much what the subject line says.

I assume it's Douglas's idea. Or possibly Sherlock's (I'm still waiting for a fun PWP featuring these two, BTW).

But Sherlock and Martin could be twins, so obviously, Douglas and John will want to watch as porn happens.

While Martin (or Arthur, your choice) walks home one night, he's mugged. He's not badly hurt beyond a few scarpes and bruises and because of this, he tries not to think of it so much.

He doesn't know how badly the mugging affected him. He jumps at shadows, flinches away from casual touches, and finds himself shaking when he's alone.

Original post here:

After the bombed BMW incident, Senor Quintanilla doesn't let them leave until they've paid for the damage to his car. The tower shuts down, anyway, so they can't leave until the next day.

Diego is also stuck, with no way to go back to Albacete until *hem-hem* the morning after.

Somehow, comforting Diego/Martin ensues. Pleaaase? :>

Re: Nominations

In his spare time Martin writes angsty, UST-filled, achy romantic fanfic about his favourite TV pairing from some (fictional) program he enjoys watching. He's not a BNF or anything, he just does it to pass the time.

Somehow, Douglas finds out, and he's all set to mock his Captain mercilessly... until he actually reads some of it. And maybe it's just his imagination, but the one character's bitingly painful sarcasm, and the other's yearningly earnest sentiments, all wound up with the slightly May/December theme of Martin's work... Well, it does bear a bit of an uncanny resemblence, doesn't it?

Up to you what comes of it. Maybe Douglas steals Martin's story ideas to woo his Captain spectacularly. Or perhaps a totally oblivious Martin is left utterly baffled by Douglas's behavious because, actually, he really just likes the characters and hadn't noticed there was any resemblence at all.

Happy endings, preferred though.

Each of the crew takes their turn in taking Douglas up on his offer.

(I really can't decide if I want one of each offer, or everyone independently deciding to have sex with Douglas :) )

Nominations: Douglas/Martin D/s angst and betrayal of trust

(Anonymous) 2012-03-19 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Original prompt (not mine, amazingly):

"It's always been my head-canon that Martin would be just the most submissive creature if only he'd found someone with whom he felt safe enough to let go. The reason he's so uptight about people recognising he's the Captain is that when people start giving him orders, if they do it in just the right way, sometimes he sort of follows them without thinking.

With Douglas he finally finds someone to trust, someone who knows how to make him feel good, and someone who understands the VERY IMPORTANT division between work and play, and it's absolutely brilliant...

Until the day they have a nasty argument at work and Douglas uses his Dom voice on the flight deck to try and make Martin change a command decision.

He doesn't even realise what he's done until Martin chokingly safewords, the look of hurt betrayal on his face more than Douglas can bear.

Please no instant forgiveness from Martin. Douglas is going to have to work incredibly hard to re-build that trust. And a little heartfelt apology wouldn't go amiss either."

With an added "please please please?" from me ;)

HERC: Snoopadoop the cockerpoo, noblest of hounds.
SHERLOCK: Why do you call it a hound? Why a hound?
HENRY HERC: Why – what do you mean?
SHERLOCK: It’s odd, isn’t it? Strange choice of words – archaic. It’s why I took the case.

Basically, Snoopadoop is the Hound of Baskerville.

4 times Arthur was accidentally drunk and 1 time he wasn't (up to you whether he wasn't drunk or it wasn't accidental.) Because there was not enough drunken Arthur in this ep!

Gen, het, slash, or all of the above! The only thing I can't read is over-the-top humiliation.

As the OP, I vote that this counts!

Because surely, when the mod said "March 30," she meant "the end of March", not literally to the minute, and as March has, in fact, 31 days, March 31 totally qualifies.

(Look at my little face, as I try to look as if I think I could get away with it... :D)
