Cabin Pressure Fic Prompt Post Three

Welcome everybody. How you got here I have no idea but thank you for coming and welcome again, nonetheless . As you may have gathered this is a Fic Prompting Meme dedicated solely to the hilarious and oh-so-addictive BBC Radio 4 sitcom - Cabin Pressure. I'm aiming for this to be pretty anything goes - but in order for everything to run smoothly, there are a few guidelines. Don't worry - they're not too restrictive.

As you probably all know - our meme now has it's very own database created and maintained by the great Enigel. It both catalogues each and every prompt that we post and provides links to fills. You can find it here: Google Spreadsheet

We also have a Pinboard archive which has been put in place by the lovely [personal profile] oxfordtweed in the place of our late Delicious Archive. This Archive contains a list of all the prompts this meme has to offer - you can find it here: Pinboard Archive

This is a great step forward in making our meme just a little more organised (but not too organised of course. This is Cabin Pressure) which is always a good thing.

So in order to make things easier to archive - Please nest your fills.

This can be done by either posting each part as a reply to that part's immediate predecessor, OR by replying each time to Part I OR - well you get the idea :D

It makes it simpler for Enigel and myself to link fills in a clean and clear manner. Following these guildelines will be very much appreciated guys :D

Reprompting is allowed but please include the URL of the original prompt when you do so. It will make it infinitely more easy to Archive which would make both Enigel and I very happy :)

As for everything else

  1. Be respectful to one another. Disagreements are fine, but not everything disagreeable is trolling. If you suspect someone of trolling, just ignore it. If you cannot respond to a comment without attacking or trolling someone else, keep it to yourself.

  2. No bashing prompts. It might not be your cup of tea - but obviously someone wants it enough to go to the effort of requesting it. So just scroll past it.

  3. Prompt away as much as you like guys - seriously, go wild - but please try to fill as well.

  4. NEW - If your fill includes a major element that veers from the original prompt (crossovers, established universes, kinks, et cetera), please take a few moments to check with the OP that such additions are welcome. This has caused problems in the past and it only takes a few moments of your time.
  5. Please no RPF. I'm not trying to oppress you RPF writers and enthusiasts, I would just really like to avoid any legal problems.

  6. When you post a fill (or post a new part of a WIP) please go over to the Filled Prompts Post (if it is complete) or the WIP Post (if there are still more parts to come) and, following each post's guideline's, post a link to this fill or new part.

According to numerous Child Safety laws it is illegal to provide pornographic material to minors. Seeing that the majority of the stuff we have here is rather adult in nature, this Meme is consequently an 18+ zone. Failing to comply to this rule could result in the Meme getting shut down. So if you're here and you're under 18 please back button now.

+ Please do not post anything regarding minors in a sexual situation. It really doesn't matter how tasteful or crass it is, there are laws that classify that sort of thing as child pornography and as such, I'm afraid we're going to have to go with the attitude that safe is better than sorry.

It really is VERY important that these rules are upheld as the consequences are severe.

Other than that - go crazy guys. Any problems please just message me and I'll try my best to work it out.

From the news

(Anonymous) 2012-03-28 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Did anyone hear about that airline captain who freaked out midflight, screaming about terrorists and bombs, and had to be held down while an off duty pilot on the flight assisted the copilot in an emergency diversion? (If not, then:

Just...anything with that. Maybe it's Martin who believes himself fit to fly but becomes so ill midflight he becomes delusional, and how Douglas deals with that. Or vice versa; how would Martin deal with a delusional Douglas on his hands during a flight?

Twist it however you like, I'd just like a few terrifying moments amongst the pilots during a flight and some comforting afterwards. :3

When I was reading about this earlier, I thought of what would happen if something like this happened on a MJN flight.

After St. Petersburg, Martin's talking about how Douglas sorted everything out, then he asks about Gordon. And Arthur says more than just "He's alright."
Basically, angst please. :D

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
ARTHUR: He never hit me.

ARTHUR: Not properly anyway. Just a clip round the ear when I annoyed him, but that’s normal isn’t it? It’s just to remind you to not annoy people, it’s my fault I kept forgetting what annoyed him; he only did it so I would remember.

DOUGLAS: Arthur-

ARTHUR: He didn’t ignore me either; he bought me loads of expensive things like smart clothes and sports things to play with. He said it was so I would look smart when he had important people over for a meal or a meeting or something, and I did try to learn to play football and tennis but they were really difficult and no one ever wanted to play with me. I suppose that was my fault too, I probably should have practiced more, so Dad could have been proud of me.

DOUGLAS: I’m sure he was proud of you for some things, Arthur.

ARTHUR: But he never came to my school plays or award ceremonies though; he was always too busy he said. And anyway, why would he come to see me when I never won anything and I was never an important part in the play? He probably would have come to see me if I was the lead role or if I was any good at school. He said he would come when I got the award for being top of the year but he never did, I didn’t mind though because Mum still came and she filmed it so Dad could see it later, I don’t know if he ever watched it though.

DOUGLAS: He might have done, you never know.

ARTHUR: He probably didn’t, he didn’t really care about me. He never let me try a musical instrument either, I really wanted to but he said music was for pansies and if I was a pansy then no one would like me at school anymore. I didn’t really mind, music lessons were very expensive he said and he was already paying for my school. I didn’t need to know how to play an instrument either; I didn’t want to be a pansy.

DOUGLAS: Now that is complete and utter rot. I play the piano and I’m definitely not a “pansy.” Your father was being unnecessarily bigoted and cruel.

ARTHUR: He was mean to me when he spoke to me too. He liked to call me stupid a lot, I suppose it was because I was stupid, I did try to be clever but then he would just laugh at me and tell me to go away. He was only nice to me when he was having a dinner party with important people. He’d lie something awful then, he would tell everyone that I was top of my class or that I was captain of the football team when I wasn’t. I asked him why he told everyone that once and he got really shouty and sent me to my room for nearly two whole days! He clipped me round the ear then as well, but I deserved it, I made him angry.

DOUGLAS: (sighing) You really didn’t deserve it, Arthur. He was the one who lied to everyone; you were the brave one, to pick him up on it.

ARTHUR: I didn’t mean to be brave; I just wanted to know why but he never told me. He never told me why he took Teddy either. At least, I think he took him; I wasn’t actually there when he did it. He asked me why I was still dragging it around with me even though I was five and when I came home from school the next day Teddy was gone. Mum did get me a new, secret teddy but he wasn’t as good as my proper one, I didn’t tell Mum that though; I didn’t want to upset her.

DOUGLAS: He had no right doing that. He had no right to do any of those things, Arthur. You do see that, don’t you?

ARTHUR: I do see that, but it doesn’t matter because he never hit me, did he? So none of it really matters because he never hurt me. I shouldn’t be this upset just because I spoke to him. People are mean all the time and no one else gets this worked up. Sometimes I wish he had hit me, just so that I’d be allowed to be upset when I see him but that’s stupid. There must be something wrong with me to think that, everyone else can cope with mean people and I can’t because I’m stupid. He never hit me so I shouldn’t be upset, it’s just stupid. I’m just stupid.

DOUGLAS: Arthur, Arthur, shhh. Come here (Douglas puts his arm around Arthur and guides his head to rest on Douglas’ shoulder). He may not have hurt you physically but he did upset you, didn’t he (Arthur nods miserably). There, see? So of course you would be upset if you saw him again, he spent the majority of your childhood disappointing and terrorising you. I would be upset if I were in your position. But it’s alright now; you don’t have to see him again for a long time if you don’t want to. Not ever if you want.

ARTHUR: (sniffs dejectedly) He still rings me to try and buy G-ERTI every year.

DOUGLAS: Then pass the call onto me; I’m sure I’d be able to deal with the man.

ARTHUR: (looking up) You’d do that? For me?

DOUGLAS: Yes, I will.

ARTHUR: But why?

DOUGLAS: Because, Arthur, you are, without a shadow of a doubt, the most brilliant son someone could have asked for.

unrequited love / angst

(Anonymous) 2012-03-28 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
When Douglas starts developing romantic feelings for Martin, he knows he'll have to take it really slow so as to avoid scaring the younger man off or making him think he just wants sex. So he invites Martin on friendly outings, helps out more with logbooks etc, becomes a bit less mean and so on, all without any romantic advances yet.

Martin is really happy with this change in their relationship - Douglas has become the father/older brother he's never had, and Martin feels really safe with him, not thinking for a second that it might be leading to something more than close friendship.

So when Douglas finally makes a move - confesses his feelings or tries to kiss him, Martin is unintentionally cruel, saying Douglas is old enough to be his father and that he could never, ever imagine being in a relationship with him (either because he's straight or because he's totally not into older men).

secretly rich Martin

(Anonymous) 2012-03-28 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Martin wins/inherits/is given/finds a huge sum of money - enough to buy himself a proper airline and still have enough to live comfortably for the rest of his life. Because of reasons up to the author, he decides not to tell anyone about his fortune and secretly buy/invest in MJN (so secretly that even Carolyn doesn't know who's the new owner/investor) and stays as an unpaid Captain.

....and then something happens and he is forced to reveal himself to the everyone.

No pairings or M/D please ♥

EXTREME ANGST brain-damaged genius Arthur tw: attempted suicide

(Anonymous) 2012-03-28 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Arthur was a child genius but isolation from his peers and the inability to stop thinking left him depressed. He attempted suicide but was found and kept alive, though having suffered brain damage.

Now Arthur has lost all of his intelligence but he is able to be happy. He is somewhat aware that he used to be a genius and occasionally has great insight, but overall he is glad that he's happy now. And Carolyn does all she can to look after him and keep him happy because it's all that she can do to ease the mourning and guilt.

Hmm, I have vague ideas for a fill... Do you want him to be a specific age? Because I'm not sure how old a child has to be to have suicidal thoughts.

Med-fet (WARNING non-con)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-28 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I have two scenarios in my mind:

(Non-con here, beware!) Secretly-a-sociopath Douglas and clueless Martin have been in a relationship for a year, Martin trusts and loves Douglas, when shit hits the fan, Douglas loses it and rapes Martin in the scariest ways possible, using his limited medical-student-dropout knowledge (things could get very dangerous for poor Martin). No deaths, please.

Martin and Douglas have been going out for a couple months, testing the water, when Douglas asks Martin about his fetishes and Martin reveals he has a thing for medical equipment, doctor/patient roleplay, ect. Consensual med-fet ensues

martin walking at night in a downpour

(Anonymous) 2012-03-29 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Martin stays late in the portacabin completing log books, and when he goes to leave, his van will not start. The airfield will be closed all the next day (bank holiday, whatever). He doesn't have the money for a tow, and he doesn't want to bother anyone or look like he can't handle the situation himself, so he decides to walk home alone in the dark in the pouring rain.

Anything could happen.

Avatar the Last Airbender AU

(Anonymous) 2012-03-29 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Martin is a firebender and he's hid it all his life because of the systemic discrimination and fear over firebenders (it's felt that firebenders are inherently violent people because there aren't many non-destructive uses for fire, past history of wars, etc.)

His family abused him because of the shame they felt. He couldn't run away or turn them in for fear of discovery and now he dyes his hair to hide the ginger because redheads are suspect too.

So when there's an incident, maybe the crew is attacked, Carolyn's house catches on fire with her and Arthur still inside, whatever, Martin has to expose himself to save them or not act and bear the guilt. (of course he saves them but some angst is necessary here, just a bit, this is Martin.)

How does the crew react to his secret?

Fill! 1/2

(Anonymous) 2012-03-31 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
The very first time Martin fire bends, his mother slapped the hell out of him.

His hands had felt warm all morning. It wasn’t like the time he had poison oak or when he cupped a wasp. This warmth felt wonderful, welcoming. And when he brought his hands near each other, it felt like he was holding the sun in his palms.

He didn’t know what to expect, when he tried to focus all of his attention into his cupped hands. The heat suddenly spiked, Martin gave a short gasp and a little orange flame bloomed in his palm. It was a little flickering light, as big as a lit match, hovering a mere inch above his flesh.

Martin grinned happily. “Mum!” He said, holding out his hand to her. “Look!”

He cried out in alarm when his mother suddenly slapped his hand, extinguishing the flame immediately. He stared up at her, confused why she had done such a thing when she slapped him across the face, hard enough to send him crashing to the floor.

The next couple of hours involved a lot of screaming, crying. Eventually it was Martin’s father who had to sit the boy down to explain to him why he should never ever try to fire bend again. “I had hoped the genes of our ancestors would have been extinguished by now,” he said sadly, unwinding the bindings around Martin’s hands. His mother bounded his hands into tight fists to keep him from trying again. Martin’s father gently kissed his palms where his fingernails had cut into his skin. “We are still paying for the sins of our great-grandparents, Martin. It’ll be many more generations still, until we are forgiven. Until then, you must keep your gift to yourself, otherwise you’ll bring much misfortune upon you and this family.”

Martin didn’t understand. He nodded anyways.

As he grew, he eventually learned of the Great War. He learned how fire benders wiped out a whole generation of benders, destroyed whole cities and nearly sent the air benders into extinction. While all this happened even before his parent’s time, hatred and fear still ran rampant.

Martin did what he was told and kept his bending to himself. For a time.

As much as he wanted to ignore the tingle in his hands, the warmth in his arms and legs, it eventually came out in little ways. During his tenth birthday as his family presented the cake to him, Martin sneezed. The candles on his cake erupted into high flames, shooting upwards, singeing hair and clothe. He was sent to bed immediately, without a chance to taste his cake or open his presents.

When he was thirteen, the heater had broken, turning the house into an igloo. The only person who hadn’t needed an extra layer of clothing was Martin. His mother forced him into an extra jacket and scarf to fool the electrician and spying neighbors. The poor boy eventually overheated and fainted in his room.

The fights that ensued after were ear shattering.

“He needs to be taught!” His father would scream. “If he can’t learn to control it, it’ll control him!”

“Stop trying to treat this like it’s a gift!” His mother would yell back. “You know what’ll happen if people find out! They’ll run us out of town! Hell, someone might even try to kill Martin!”

“Which is why he should be taught! He’ll be able to protect himself!”

“Oh yeah? Who’s going to teach him? Where are we going to get the money for this? Huh? Simon needs braces and we just fixed the car!”

Martin knew his mother loved him. She just hated his bending. But eventually she couldn’t deny without proper instruction, Martin was liable to burn down a house in an accidental rage.

There used to be a huge jar of money in his parent’s room labeled “Hawaii or Bust!” It was a trip the whole family was looking forward to in probably another year or so. Then one day the whole jar disappeared and Martin suddenly had a fire bending teacher.

That caused a resentment from his siblings that never truly went away.

Two months of training. That was all they could afford. It was enough though, to stamp down the unexpected bursts of flame. Enough for Martin to learn how to call the flame, to control it. He’ll never know how powerful he could have been.

By the time he turned fifteen, there were no more ‘accidents’. Every time Martin felt the familiar warmth itch across his skin, he breathed in and out, releasing a short burst of steam and extinguishing his inner fire.

“Bending is a gift,” his teacher had said to him on their final lesson. “I know society hates you for it, but the gods gave you this for a reason. It’s okay to be afraid, but don’t be ashamed.”

Martin looked down at his palm, where a small flame burned beautifully. It was warm, so, so warm. “I’ll try not to be,” he whispered, curling his hand into a tight fist, extinguishing the flame with a small hiss.

Insecure Douglas, hot Martin

[personal profile] tiwtin 2012-03-29 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Douglas is grey, smart mouthed, a bit podgy around the middle and at the wrong end of middle aged, but Martin loves him anyway. Martin is scrawny, nervous, broke and gets his hair cut by the old lady with failing eyesight next door because it's free, but Douglas loves him anyway.

Martin moves in and as love blooms, as does Martin. With Douglas' cooking he beefs up a bit, going from scrawny to lean. With Douglas' constant affection and attention his confidence grows and he stands taller. With Douglas' encouragement he grows his hair a little and then gets it styled properly because he likes the feel of Douglas' fingers carding through it. And with Douglas' money he gets new clothes that fit him and flatter him.

And all of a sudden Martin is a hot, confident young pilot with a cute smile, who looks devastating in a bit of tailoring (think the Harpers Bazaar photoshoot).

Douglas is left feeling old and grey, and watches with growing anxiety when people take notice and strangers start chatting him up. Can Douglas really keep hold of the man he loves?

Tl;dr - Martin hots up and Douglas frets he'll lose him when he gets a better offer. Gimmie flangst!

Things you would tell your 12 year old self

(Anonymous) 2012-03-29 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Due to flying through the Bermuda Triangle/CERN/random cosmic rays/Arthur's Mushroom Surprise being EXCEPTIONALLY surprising, a random temporal whatsis (or psycho-physiological schism where they are all separated from their inner child, or hallucination, whatever) happens and in mid-air, the otherwise passenger-free Gertie is suddenly populated not only by the main characters, but also the main characters at the age of 12.

Besides the obvious mayhem and questions, and the 12 year old versions getting along or not getting along or causing even more mayhem, each character takes the opportunity to talk to themselves, and find that their child-selves have lots to say to their adult versions about how their lives have turned out.

(They don't HAVE to be 12 exactly if you'd rather have them be younger or a little older)

TLDR; The characters get the opportunity to talk to themselves as children, and their child selves get to talk back.

Arthur Appreciation

(Anonymous) 2012-03-29 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Whenever I'm having a bad day and listen to Cabin Pressure to cheer myself up, they all make me laugh but it's usually Arthur who really makes me feel happy because he's just so unendingly lovely and kind.

I'd love to see something where someone, anyone, gives him the credit he deserves, not just for being permanently optimistic and cheerful, but genuinely, resolutely nice all. The. Time. He couldn't even bring himself to say a bad word about Gordon.

Because come on, how much do you wish you knew someone like Arthur?

People are always talking down to him and calling him an idiot and he's still happy and kind and sees joy in everything.

Martin's bio dad is Gordon

(Anonymous) 2012-03-30 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Martin's father was never very fond of him due to the fact that he knew he wasn't his but Martin's real father paid the family to it hush hush, bio dad didn't want his wife to know and run the risk of her divorcing him and taking most of his money.

Simon feels it's time his little brother knew the truth (he can do it nicely OR do it in a malicious way) and Martin in between jobs turns detective to find his father.

After much work on his part he finds out that it's Gordon.

turns out, Douglas' expectations of hilarity and teasing material aside, get Martin drunk and the boy can sing!

now you could just leave this at the revelation that Martin is good at something or extend it to Douglas or Arthur becoming so enamoured of Martin's singing that they coax him to do so whenever they can and that leads to smoochies, so much the better.

(if you go the slash route, I'd prefer Arthur to Douglas 1) there's never enough Martin/Arthur and 2) there was a fill in the last part kinda like this and it was lovely and brilliant and had Mumford and Sons, just sayin')

Arthur and Carolyn singing

[identity profile] 2012-03-30 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
Never done a prompt on a meme before, this is quite fun!

So, right now, I have an image in my head of Arthur and Carolyn singing Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" to Gordon, Glee-style, with Martin, Douglas and Herc as backup singers.

Hee. Yeah.

[personal profile] airdot 2012-03-30 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Martin's family cut him off when he refused to give up on becoming a pilot after his third failed attempt at getting a CPL. Years later, MJN is hired by the Crieff family, and it is not until they're in the air that the passengers discover who is flying them and the captain discovers the identity of his passengers.

I have an idea for this, but I've one question - would you be ok with (non-explicit) M/D? Or would you prefer gen?

M/D coming out

(Anonymous) 2012-03-30 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Martin and Douglas get married somewhere where two men can get married overnight. They've managed to keep their relationship a secret from everyone so far, but since they're married now, they see no reason to keep hiding. Just telling everyone would be boring, so they simply stop pretending they're not a couple - which means PDA, Martin introducing himself as Captain Richardson (or Crieff-Richardson, if you prefer), openly going home together instead of sneaking around etc.
Everyone thinks it's a very elaborate prank.

"I'm gonna climb you like a thermal updraft."

(Anonymous) 2012-03-31 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
In some bar in some town in a sultry locale they're staying a few nights in, Martin gets slipped some sort of drug that makes him lose his inhibitions completely and also makes him utterly stupidly horny. Douglas rescues Martin from the bar, then spends the rest of the night fending off his Captain, who has turned (not quite literally) into a worshipful ginger octopus, determined to properly and thoroughly thank his knight in shining armour in every way possible.

Douglas successfully keeps Martin from doing anything he might regret later, though in some cases it was a near thing. Even though drugged!Martin is unbelievably persuasive, Douglas knows he's the one that's in his right mind and needs to protect Martin, and so the night passes uncomfortably.

Up to filler whether the morning brings awkward thank yous, gentle teasing and a stronger Gen friendship, orrrr awkward fully-in-right-mind 'well I kind of wish you had's and romantic advances, impassioned D/M snogging and so on, as one does.

No established D/M at start, please.

TL:DR - Martin gets very drugged, Douglas gets moderately molested and there's an unmitigatedly happy ending for all.

Hotels, even nice ones, are all well and good... but nothing quite beats the feeling of getting to pass out in your own bed for the first time in a week.

Fill: Sleeeeeeeeeeeep

(Anonymous) 2016-08-03 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Martin had made his bed before he went, stripping off the blue sheets and straightening the mattress cover – it’s an old mattress and the springs need something to pad them – before putting on the white. He can see it in his mind’s eye, hospital corners and plump stuffed duvet cover (two duvets in one, since it’s winter) his mother’s knitted blankets over the top and that silk pillowcase Caitlin bought him one Christmas to stop his hair from frizzing – he hasn’t noticed a difference to be honest, but she swears it works for her.

He heads straight up - that last set of stairs has never looked so steep, but he’s almost there so he doesn’t care – hangs up his hat and coat, taking the last of the toblerone Arthur insisted they all share from his pocket and setting it out. God his bed looks good, but he still boils the kettle as he strips off, dropping his shirt and trousers in the hamper, thankful that his attic window is too small and high for him to be seen making tea in his pants and socks.

A sip of tea and a bite of toblerone. Bliss. He pours the rest of the boiling water into the small sink – a handbasin really – and tops it up with cold to flannel wash. Back of the neck and under the arms first, just a smudge of wet soap and the soaked flannel after, drops pattering on the scanty square of lino in front of the sink space, or running down his arms and chest and soaking into his boxers. He strips those off too, and the socks, and uses the flannel between his legs.

He wrings it out after, and even though it’s not really needed he rinses it and wrings it again before rubbing himself down vigorously with a towel. He feels fresher now. He hates getting into bed not feeling clean.

The very last bite of toblerone and another sip of tea before he brushes his teeth, and he sets the mug down on the reclaimed piano stool he uses as a bedside table. Slides naked between the sheets. They smell faintly of soapflakes still, and the pillow is smooth and cool and plump behind his back as he takes another sip, rests the tea on his chest over the crisp cotton of the duvet.

It always feels decadent, drinking tea in bed, and he lets his eyes close – not to sleep yet, just enjoying the feeling of his own space wrapped around him and the quiet here at the top of the house.

It won’t stay quiet of course – the water cistern in the next room makes a noise as someone runs a tap downstairs, and the central heating is going off for the night in a chorus of quiet, metallic noises – but these are not loud sounds, and they’re familiar enough to be comforting.

It’s probably a good thing, actually, that the cistern gurgles, because Martin really was dropping off and he didn’t mean to. He finishes the tea quickly, yawning as he sets it on the ‘table’ and turns the light out. Once it’s properly dark – just a very faint yellow glow of street lamps cast up against the sloping ceiling - he snuggles down on his side, one arm slipping beneath the pillow and shifting it slightly to a comfortable angle.

There’s a tiredness in his limbs as well as in his head, but the bed is lovely and solid, holding him up.

He pulls a little corner of the duvet between his knees, and is asleep almost the moment his eyes close.

Martin H/C - Panic attacks

(Anonymous) 2012-03-31 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
As a person who suffers from panic attacks, I know both how terrifying and horrible it can be, and how touching it is when someone helps you get over it. So I'm really craving some Martin H/C where Martin suffers from panic attacks, and when he has one (maybe after a particularly terrifying landing, or whatever) someone (preferably Douglas) helps calm him down and comfort him afterwards. Happy to provide any info about how it would feel, etc :/

TLDR: Martin suffers from panic attacks. Douglas comforts him.

There's a couple of lovely Sherlock fics where Lestrade talks Sherlock down from a panic attack by getting him to recite number sequences or so on. I would LOVE to see one where Douglas does something similar with Martin and flight procedures!

(But anything that comes from this prompt is good with me.)

Sherlock-inspired prompt TW: dark Douglas, terminal illness, death of major character(s?)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-31 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Douglas is dying. The doctors won't tell him how long he has left; they don't know themselves. Any breath could be his last.

He doesn't have much to leave his daughter. Hie might be a pilot, but it is only at MJN, and the smuggling is enough to let him live comfortably, but not exactly an inheritence. Luckily, some of his friends in the smuggling circles have a contact who might be able to help.

Douglas makes a deal. For every person he kills, money will go to his child.

He errs on the side of caution. He has limited success, and there are a few failed attempts, times he chickens out at the last minute. And then, one day, Douglas finds himself in the ideal position to kill Martin.

It's perfect. They're alone, and he could easily make it look like a suicide or an accident. Martin couldn't fight back, and no-one would ever know. Douglas doesn't want to, of course: Martin is his colleage and friend. But hypothetically, he could.

And it's so much money...

TL;DR - Douglas as the serial killer from Sherlock 01x01
