Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please. Welcome to the brand new Page-a-Mod post. This post does not have a spiffy banner, because I am not the mod who makes them, but all the same it has come to my attention that we may be in need of an easier way to get hold of someone in charge. I doubt this will be seeing much use, much like a life vest on a flight between here and Luton, but in the unlikely even that we crash into a swimming pool someone has an issue that they need addressed, you can do so here.

spoiler about Jomeo dying!

It's not much of a spoiler warning if it gives away a spoiler *in* the warning, is it? *grumble*

I can't find the prompt you're talking about, and am just about to take the dog out, so I don't have a whole lot of time to search right now. Do you have a link so I can get to it when I return?

Ah, yes. I am inclined to let this particular prompt stay, on the grounds that what it's spoiling was technically written in 1891 and is generally considered common knowledge, both in and out of the Sherlock Holmes fandom.

I will, however, make a post reminding people of how to properly warn for spoilers, since I agree, that is not a terribly effective spoiler warning.

Does this work for you?

Accidentally put my prompt in the wrong post because I'm a tool.

Timeframe

Would you, possibly, be able to provide some kind of guide as to how long it's going to be expected and/or required for prompters to warn for Sherlock S2 spoilers? There's at least one short temper on the topic already.
I thnk there's a couple of good points raised in this thread - http://cabinpres-fic.dreamwidth.org/783.html?thread=3126031#cmt3126031
-as people seem to have differing expectations of how long is ...well, long enough.

Yes. But not right at this moment. I've contacted the other mod and will discuss this matter with her, since it does seem to be getting to be a fairly big issue. Once we've decided on one, we'll make sure it's posted.

Yeah, fair enough :)

Some things might shake off differently in the new series, though, and I'd rather not know in advance which was copied the same, which was different, etc, until I manage to watch it.

Also, the good old

spoiler space!
.
.
.
.
.

type of thing would be pretty awesome, since some of us read the prompts in our email inboxes, and go from prompt to prompt without seeing the subject line prominently, and sometimes I'm skimming the prompt pages, and the

spoiler space!
.
.
.
.
is a much more effective way, in my visual opinion, to isolate spoilers.

Prompt Post II has hit 5000 comments a few days ago. Is it time for a new prompt post?

Hi! I just wanted to mention that the Chatter, PaM, WIP, Filled, and Searching posts don't have links to Part III. I know we could just click the main community link at the top, but...for the sake of completion! :)

Hi Mods! Just wanted to say thanks for the intervention on the chatter post. It was getting a bit out of hand, so good call, and I'm sorry for my part in it. Much love, keep up the good work!

I'm normally an LJ person and am a bit dense here with DW. When trying to track a certain prompt, the first option is greyed out and I have no other option but to track the whole post.

Do I have to be a paying member in order to keep a tab only on certain comments?

Yeah. It's the same as on LJ, actually. Just one of those little things you never think you'll need until you start participating in fic/kinkmemes.

The best alternative, if you don't want to/aren't able to pay for services is to bookmark the thread. What I used to do is have a folder in my bookmark bar in my browser, and every morning just check those for updates. If you use Firefox, and it may be the same for other browsers, you can right click on a folder and select 'Open All in Tabs' to check them sort of all at once.

Barring that, DW's getting pretty popular, and I'm sure something like the old LJ Add-on that used to track threads (before Release 89 broke it) will be ported over soon.

:)

I've paid for LJ for so long that I hardly recall all the extra stuff I get from that lol.

But I am finding some interesting things posted, so maybe not paying is a blessing in disguise? :D

I tried this with a Sherlock meme before and I got like 5-10 e-mails a minute lol.

If you want to track the whole meme, I would suggest tracking top-level comments only (something LJ doesn't have an option for), and then the entire Filled Prompts Post. That way you get just the prompts and fills, but don't get flooded with the long strings of chatter that can happen on some prompts. We're fairly small, compared to Sherlock, but still move pretty quickly. XD

I think I'll be adding that one to the FAQ, because it does tend to come up. There are a few little tips and tricks like that in there already, but it could always use more!
